Red dot on RAMI?
« on: January 23, 2020, 10:31:37 AM »
Ok, need some feedback.  I edc my Rami and am quite comfortable out to 20 yards.  I really would like to stretch that out to 50 or so from a rested position.    I can easily do it with my .44 SBH or my Shadow 2, but the short sight radius coupled with my old eyes just wont let me make it with my Rami.  I’ve got a .22 Buckmark Target I stuck a very cheap Browning Red dot on it and I can consistently nail an 8” plate at 75 yards.   Just wondering if the Red dot on a Rami would be worth the investment to get me where I want to be.   Your experience is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks Vinny, looks like I’m gonna have to try it.  What RDS are you running on the RAMI?

At the time, I had an RMR 01 sitting around begging for a good home. IMHO an RMR is a good choice for EDC on the RAMI; proven durable, reliable and although the reticle is smaller than some other optics, it is fitting for the RAMI.  However, like all things electronic there are constant improvements and if I were doing it from scratch today I might be tempted to try a Holosun 507c. The footprint is the same.

But I would trust the knowledgeable folks at CGW to make the most up-to-date recommendations. They understood that due to the RAMI's short barrel and tilt at lockup (just look at how much taller your rear iron is) the cut needs at least 2 degrees of forward tilt to get enough elevation adjustment and proper lower 1/3 co-witnessing with my BUIS. Others were afraid to tackle this and some said it couldn't be done, but CGW did a beautiful job.  I love this little gun!!   -Vinny
