P365 FrankenSig
« on: April 15, 2020, 02:33:18 PM »
Besides raising the bar forever in terms of high capacity in a micro-9 size....I have to say I've really been enjoying the SIG P365's flexibility.
The shorter SIG P-365 and longer P-365XL Optic-ready slide can be used on either frame. You can come up with some interesting combinations. FrankenSig!  O0

Thought I'd share these images of an SAS Slide with the new FT Bullseye Fiber-tritium sights that I purchased separately from SIG parts on the XL frame. This slide does NOT have the cutouts and can be used with the standard 365 barrel and spring set (also available through SIG parts). 12+1 9mm in this micro size is amazing!

Also pictured is the XL slide with the new Romeo Zero RDS.

Although the P365 (now with >4000) rounds has been 100% reliable with any type of ammo; I was reluctant to pocket-carry until I discovered these excellent Kydex Pocket holsters offered by Vedder or Alabama Holster that completely cover the trigger guards and have a thumb tab to assist release and easy draw.

For 10 round limited States of course the regular 10+1 frame will take 10 round mags (or 12 or even the 15 round mags where legal) but the XL won't take the short 10 rounders.

Meanwhile.....I just sent my standard P365 slide to Fabricated Arms to mill for a new Holosun 407K micro red dot. The Romeo Zero is OK, but I think the Holosun mounted on the short slide using the X-Ray 3 sights as my BUIS will be even better.  8)  -Vinny

Vinny, that is pretty good combination.
P365SAS slide on P365XL frame would be a great addition to P365 family.
I love SIG's flat trigger.

Is this regarding SAS slide on XL frame?

4100 so far on original X-Ray-3 slide (which just went for milling and patina cerakote). The SAS slide with the flat FT sights is brand new. This is a special slide available through SIG Parts (under slides) that is made without the slide cuts for ported barrel; so the standard barrel/recoil assembly from a regular P365 can be used.
Our range is currently closed so I've only been able to practice draw/present/and dry fire with the new slide. Really though, it's the same two-eyes-open on target presentation as a RDS for fast defensive shooting, not bulls-eye accuracy though.
Anyhow, I agree the XL's flat trigger and full grip is nice!

Those look nice.

Can the 365 trigger work on the XL?  I tried a friend's XL and never could warm up to the flat trigger.

I haven't tried it, but there's plenty of posts on SIGTALK showing it's a simple swap and the curved trigger parts are  available for ~$40.  Someone would probably be happy to buy your flat trigger parts too.  ;D

The SIG P365 has become the #1 selling micro 9 pistol, so I believe there will plenty of parts and aftermarket support. I love that it takes about 10 seceonds to swap slides/frames. Awesome design.

I still love my Compact and full size CZ's but nothing CZ makes (yet) or anyone else IMHO comes close to filling the P365 category (I have a Hellcat, it's pretty good but I personally prefer the SIG's accuracy and flexibility). JMO  YMMV

Thanks Vinny.

I also prefer the Sig to the Hellcat.

Puddintame,
I like the XL frame with short slide best too.
I think you discovered the slide/frame/mag interchangeability last year some time ago. I may have gotten the idea from you!  O0

Let us know how Fabricated Arms works out for you.  I'm also looking for someone to mill my 365 for a Holosun 407k.  As soon as I can find one available that is.
Let's go Brandon!

Yes, I will update post with pictures as soon as 407K arrives.
Been on order with Optics Planet since early Feb but like everything else.....  ::)

At least Fabricated Arms has recently gotten the exact milling specs for the mounting lugs directly from Holosun, so I should receive the milled slide shortly.

Been contemplating the idea of getting a p365 but I'm still hearing about some reliability issues. I will stick with my glock 43 for now

G43 is a great micro; but has 66% less capacity.  Maybe a 43X is for you.
But if you haven't already seen this extensive P365 article written by a G43 guy:

only problem i had was that i didnt clean and lube it before i took it shooting [i know better than that] wasnt going into battery. after that, almost 1000rnds without a hicup. very confident in this pistol now and trust it with my life
