Bit of an update- spoke to the local Dan Wesson LGD today and learned that DW had expected the DWX-C to ship first quarter. Then it became mid-summer.  Then it was late fall.  In short-- he doesn't expect them this year!

While that's disappointing, it does simplify my 2020 spending goals. Instead of having to choose between a nice kayak or a nice gun this year, I can get the kayak now and the DWX later.  ;D

I paid in full for a DWX in January. Unfortunately I’m from N.J. and my permit to purchase a pistol has an expiration of 90 days. I gave up on the Dwx once the expiration day was approaching and ended up getting something else. Such a bummer. Now I’m thinking if I should forgo the idea of waiting on the DWX and go after the stacatto C2. I want to run an optic so I’m think the DWX won’t come with that until 2022.

IAMThird, any chance you've heard more news from your LGD?

I’m disappointed they have not produced any, but fully understand why.

What I’d like to see is a comparison of the DWX compact to the Wilson EDC X9. They appear to be similar in size and function.

It's interesting that I started this thread in spring 2020, and still no DWX. I wonder how CZ's recently announced acquisition of Colt might impact the timeline. The long delay has given me time to reflect and reconsider whether I really want a high cap DA/SA for my carry gun. My thinking has changed in that time. I took some more tactical training.  I picked up a CZ 75 Shadow Black SA from CZC.  And I recently decided to stick with and train on one manual of arms- Single Action. I still love CZ's, but I found out I'm not smart enough or good enough under pressure to remember you can't let your thumb ride a decocker like a safety on a 1911 to control recoil.  I sold my CZC Custom PCR to a friend and picked up another 1911.

My carry rotation now includes a Dan Wesson Vigil Commander and an Ed Brown Stainless KC-9. On the rare occasion I think 10 rounds + another full mag I'm training to switch quickly aren't enough, I'll carry the Shadow. I'm currently having some work done and dressing it up for that eventuality. I don't mind the little extra weight over the PCR as I now carry the 1911s anyway. Same motion on all of them- draw, present, depress safety, bang. All incredibly accurate. All have a straight trigger with short reset. I also carry a 1911-ish Sig P938 for warm weather clothes and hiking. Again, 8 rds plus another mag are enough for me unless I'm zombie hunting. I hear a lot of folks like me a re going back to single stacks.

As for the DWX-C? Sorry, but I don't plan to update this thread. Someone else can. Dan Wesson might have had me with the DWX-C six months ago.  But now, I have no use for it.  And, to be honest, taking two classic but very different designs like the 1911 and the CZ 75, each near perfect and beautiful in its own way, and sticking them together has produced an ugly gimmick, IMO. DW doesn't need that to sell more guns in the current climate. We'll have to see if it is ever produced.

I thought the DWX was a SAO with CZ ergos? Then again, it's been long enough to forget.

Darnnit you're right, Earl.  It has been a long time. And this thing makes even less sense to me now.

Ironically I've moved in somewhat the opposite direction, but being left handed I don't have to worry about riding the decocker.  I've been considering a move to appendix carry, and the cocked and locked 1911s, as well as most of the striker fired polymer pistols, sort of give me the willies when carried in that location.  Controlling the hammer when holstering a DA/SA pistol, coupled with the longer double action pull, seems preferable, but of course it's just a feeling.  I have no analytical evidence that supports my concerns or solution.  As between the 1911 and a striker fired polymer, I think I'd prefer the 1911 with the thumb and grip safety, although the DWX wouldn't have a grip safety so I'm not sure I would want to carry it in an appendix location.  Presently, the pistol I feel most comfortable carrying appendix is a P7, but then you forgo a double stack unless you want to dish out for a P7M13.

hunch...  ;)

DWX was introduced in 2019 before Covid. Because of Market's interest there was no reason to drop that project.
As you can notice, everything is slow these days. Let's give Dan Wesson some time to produce / order  parts and start making this pistol.
