Totally clueless
« on: August 23, 2020, 07:12:03 PM »
Just bought a CZ Model 27 that I know nothing about, I've never owned a CZ and I'm absolutely clueless.  It shoots great and I'm having a lot of fun with it but I heard it's not your run of the mill gun.  It has markings on the top of the slide that look german.  It's really well made and looks like it would last forever.  I called CZ USA and they couldn't or wouldn't help.  :(

Can anyone tell me anything about it? Age? Where it was made? Is it from a war?

It says:
BOHMISCHE WAFFENFABRIK A.G.INPRAG 63691

Thank you!!

I'm sorry didn't think of that, how is that done? It also has what looks to be small bird symbols on the left side and on the Barrell.

Should be a tutorial post in the forum somewhere on posting pics but I use Imgur.com.

My phone sucks so I'm not sure the app would work, any chance the description is enough or is there anything else I can say about it that would help?

-- The serial# is on the left, right, and top of gun.  I think it's also on the slide when you take it apart.
-- It looks like it has a small bird on the right side, top, and barrel on the right. WAA 76 on right?
-- It says Pistols Modell 27 Kal. 7,65 on the left side
-- A long string of words on the top BOHMISCHE WAFFENFABRIK A.G.IN PRAG
-- The bottom of the magazine says P MOD 27
-- It's blue all over
-- the grips have a Z with a broken circle surrounded by a full circle.

The “small bird” you mentioned, can you get a closeup look at it to see if it appears to be an eagle standing on a swastika?

Wow great question, they're so tiny I couldn't see that.  With a magnifying glass it does look like the bird is standing on a swastika on the barrel on the right.

Wow, you could possibly have an authentic German Nazi CZ 27. I would definitely take it to an expert to have it evaluated. I’m not quite sure what the value would be on it.

Thank you, I thought that's what it could be from looking online.  I just don't know how old it is and if it's worth anything.  I know one thing for sure my wife isn't happy, not a fan of the thought it could've been used by a German soldier against an innocent person.  I'll see if I can figure out how to find an expert, like I mentioned CZ USA didn't want anything to do with it.  They said it was never made for or sold in the states, I'm assuming it was a military surplus firearm brought in years later.

Thank you,

Thank you,

I'm with your wife on that. I know people collect war memorabilia but Nazi stuff definitely is not my cup of tea personally. A good friend of mine inherited a CZ 27 from his late Grandfather but it wasn't Nazi related. If you plan to shoot it, disassemble and inspect it first of course, but I believe it is recommended to use light weight/grain bullets. That's the info my buddy and I found on it. Plenty of good Youtube videos out there too.

Thank you for the links and information, it's always interesting to know about the firearms we own.  I really wish I could post pictures, I'm just not that computer savvy.  Everything I've described is it though, there isn't anything else on the gun anywhere.  Just those markings.

I appreciate it,

I am curious though, why did you use the term Nazi thief?

Thank you,

Just like today the gun didn't do anything. IF it was actually used (doubtful as it was likely officer owned) it was the shooter NOT THE GUN.  Would you buy a police trade in knowing it MAY have killed an innocent person  etc etc etc?
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

The bird with the WAA76 is the acceptance mark, known as a Waffenampt. That plus the other markings indicate WWII manufacture during the occupation of Czechoslovakia.

That pistol was made before the employees at CZ-USA were born. It is possible to get spring kits from Wolff.
