I have no personal experience; hope to hear from someone who has taken this route.  HBI seems to be right on money for their stuff.

I agree. Although I am hoping CZ bothers to fix the known issues and have a release of updated Bren 2's.

Maybe you should have tried the HBI solution first (smaller gas hole service and stronger spring).
Have you gone this route? Curious to hear from someone with experience.

I've tried using the gas piston and cylinder from my 14" 5.56 Bren 2 in my 9" 7.62x39 Bren 2. Neither setting would feed a cartridge without suppressor, but with suppressor, both settings would feed. The smaller hole barely ejected and the larger hole ejected perfectly to 3 o'clock. Recoil was noticable softer with can + 5.56 cylinder as well.

Gas port size is the answer with these guns. They might also benefit from stiffer recoil springs to slow down the carrier before it smacks the rear of the receiver.

I have tried all the upgrades from HBI and my Bren still does not function. I still believe it is a ejector/extractor issue as on the last round in the magazine, the bolt will be locked back and the spent case is spun 180 laying on top of the mag. This also happened with the brass deflector removed.

What you describe sounds like carrier velocity to me. The ejector plunger can't rotate the case around fast enough before the side of the case smacks the back edge of the ejection port. This is because the carrier is moving too fast rearward.

Have you tried a smaller gas port?

Yes. The 5.56 is great. They did not send a carbine like they stated. But a 14" pistol. I ran 800 rds so far no issues. Pined and welded and added 922 bs parts and topped it with a mro and reptila mount.  Im very happy with it.

What fh did you go with to get it 16” p&w? I’m going this route also. I wanted something similar to the stock fh it’s about and inch to short.
