Just purchased a new 75 b
« on: July 22, 2021, 01:55:08 PM »
Hi folks, I’m new to cz (and 9mm), but have long been admiring the 75 b. What gr have you folks had the best results with in fmj and also in defensive loads? I apologize if this has been asked many times, I checked the search settings, but nothing came out. TIA (non stainless)

Best groups I've gotten are with 115 grain bullets.  Never really go around to trying 124's but most people say their CZ's do well with that bullet weight, too.

Best factory 115 grain FMJ loads I've shot are the cheap Federal ammo.  Used to be in a sort of reddish box.  I could get them from Walmart in 50 or 100 round boxes ($9 to $18 depending on the rounds per box).  Shoots just as good as my 115 grain hollow point reloads.

I tried Winchester 115 gain FMJ and not only were they not as accurate in my pistols (P09, P01 Omega, CZ75 Compact) the ammo left a lot of really nasty powder residue inside and outside of the guns.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Welcome Aboard !

- Most of us here are rolling our own 115gr or 124gr for target and competition. The barrels seem to be cut for 124gr, but really anything that chambers well will shoot good in these guns. (Note that "chambers well" is the operative phrase.)

- For SD we prefer the ammo with a rounded ogive, rather than conical. (Like Speer GoldDots, Fed HST flavor of the month, etc.) This helps prevent feed issues. If you want to load your own, then check out Berry Mfg Hyper Hollow Points.

Just stick with the standard FMJ until you digest all the information in the ammo buying Stickie at the top of this forum. Some of the really fancy (or strange)  Buffalo Bore or CorBon SD ammo may not even fit the CZ chamber. The CZ chamber can be fairly choosy about ammo, so check with us before buying huge quantities.... that you may not be able to shoot. Lots of great info already compiled there for you.

One last thing... Shoot at least 500 rounds while using both mags. These guns run tight and need a small break-in period, with extra lube on the rails.

Hope this helps.

Mine seems to like 124 grain over 115. They both work fine but the 124 seems to shoot better to me.

Looking forward to reading your posts.

Feel free to keep adding to this thread, OR start a new one.

Note that we already have threads for ammo testing most of the major powders.... so before starting a new thread on (say for instance, testing Winchester 231) we'd rather have you add to the exiting thread so that ALL the testing done with 231 is in one place. This helps everybody.

Caliber was originally set up using a 124gr bullet.  Have never had a factory 124gr not work.  115s and 147s have been mostly hit, but on occasion a miss. CZs have tight throats and they can become an issue.

You have a rock solid gun, may she  serve you well always.
