Who could pass on a new in the box p365 for $370 ?
« on: August 19, 2021, 11:33:09 PM »
I was at a local gun shop yesterday and saw they had a used P365 for sale so I gave it a fast look over and found it to be a new pistol that a customer had just traded in. The shop being honest couldn't sell as a new pistol so it was listed as used for $370. Well to make a long story short I now own 2 Sig P-365's and the new one has all the upgrades. My plan for 2021 was to start selling off a few guns and I did sell 2 but I've replaced them with 6 more do you think I need a keeper ?

I think you got ripped off. You should be able to get the P-365 for $365 not $370. I think you should go demand a $5 refund.

Sweet deal! You’re just doing what comes natural to gun enthusiasts. Don’t try to fight it. ;D I bought my P365 on special in 2019 for $399.99. It came with a 10, 12, and 15 round magazine.

I’d check the manufacture date. The P365 has had a lot of issues since they were introduced. Then shoot the hell out of it to shake it down because they continue to have issues, especially with the internal plastic and (cheap) Indian MIM parts (i.e. the striker). I don’t trust mine to carry with a round in the chamber - all the safety features depend on one Indian MIM tab on the striker, unlike most other striker fire pistols that have multiple separate redundant safety features to keep the thing from shooting your junk off. Sig Talk is probably the best, more or less objective / non fanboy website to explore these issues.

The thing is, once you go to the time trouble and expense to upgrade from the problematic oem parts, the P365 ain’t so cheap anymore.

My first P365 a NRA edition was produced May of 2019 the only issue with it was a striker cover plate that wouldn't stay in place. That pistol was sent back to Sig and was repaired with a new designed cover and striker and back home in 9 days. Like you I was a bit antsy trusting it for a while but I've trained with it at least twice a month for over two years and it hasn't missed a lick in over 5,000 rounds. All I've done to it is replace recoil springs and keep it clean and lubed.  Sig did everyone a disservice by releasing the P365 with defective parts early on but the little leg on the back of the striker isn't a bad design and it's working just fine on over 2,000,000 pistols. I worry more about a discharge when holstering this micro pistol so I added a safety to use only when holstering it. Oh yes one more thing my new P365 was produced Oct. 2020 and has all the upgraded parts. I just finished loading 1,500 RMR 124 gr JHP's and I will be on vacation in the high country shooting some steel next week I'll let you know if it survives the test.

Well, the cheap Sig Indian MIM striker is fine — until it breaks, whenever that is, hopefully not when the shtf or spontaneously discharging in your pocket. Fortunately for those who like the P365s, an aftermarket forged striker, Lightning Strike, is now available for $95.

Personally, after trying the P365XL and the FN 509c (which also comes with a MIM striker, but better safety features), I’m going back to the good ol’ Rami BD, machined for a rds and a rail.

Wouldn't the firing pin block safety prevent a discharge unless trigger is pulled anyways even if it was to break?

It depends where the tab breaks. If it breaks at the juncture with the striker, there’s nothing stopping the fully-cocked striker from hitting the primer and going off. I won’t have it: Ron Cohen-approved,  customer-beta-testing cheap-ass Indian MIM parts involved, pointing a cocked and loaded gun at the family jewels.
