I'll admit to being clueless about "gun culture V2.0", but that is all.   Update, not clueless any longer, Michael Bane's terminology.
Still clueless.  It's David Yamane's term for the dominant gun culture that has displaced the fudd world.

Yamane credits Michael Bane in the following excerpt from Yamane's site:

"In a departure from his previous work, Yamane became a student of guns and gun culture in 2011. He is particularly interested in the new self-defense oriented core of American gun culture that he calls (following gun writer Michael Bane) “Gun Culture 2.0.” He recently published a short book on this history of concealed carry in the U.S."

But I remain clueless on a lot of stuff.

I believe you made my point.  Thanks.
Ok boomer

Your point was clearly made already: you can't promote your sport without bashing another, more popular one.  One that you clearly know little to nothing about.
You need to keep the name calling to yourself. This isn't the place for it.

Ok, thought maybe I had missed something.  Glad to hear one hand is still the bullseye classic.  Now to develop enough
physical strength to be able to do it again.  50 yards is not available to me at the moment, but 20 is far enough.  I have a 97E coming soon, will be looking to get back to 45 serious shooting. 8)

You are going to love that 97B"E", and 20 yards is definitely challenge enough.  The steel guns are heavy, and that is an advantage in a wind, if you can hold the position long enough to get the shot off!  Let us know what you think after you have had some time with the new pistol.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's bad.  I'm older than you are and love USPSA.    I'm not a fan of shooting Bullseye.   I lack the patience.    I would never insult other shooting sport participants as "fudd world".   I don't hunt.   I don't insult them either.    If all versions of gun culture don't support each other, we are going to lose it all.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

Just for clarification.  I support participation in whatever organized competitive shooting discipline anyone is interested in.  Run and gun has brought in a lot of support for all shooting disciplines, and, yes, the older disciplines are declining in numbers, and that is fine with me.  I still feel that a little practice in the older disciplines like bullseye and F class will benefit the run and gunners, just as participation in IDPA or USPSA would benefit bullseye shooters if they are able to do both.   I don't push bullseye at the exclusion of run and gun and I don't push run and gun over bullseye.  I have done both and enjoyed both.  I push recreational shooting and the firearms hobby.

The original question was about single handed standing shooting discipline, which is bullseye.  That discipline is declining in numbers and interest (but still exists) as the younger shooters that have come in to the sport want to learn run and gun and that is fine, as it simply is of more interest and is more fun than bullseye for the younger crowd.  But the number of people participating in all types of firearms disciplines is increasing, and that is good, in my opinion.

The practical focus items I care about are focus on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership and an understanding and support of the second amendment.  Those items are elements of every shooting discipline.

I like shooting one handed because it keeps me disciplined with breathing technique and sight alignment.

And I like a better breathing technique and sight alignment because it helps me with my favorite firearm sport.........hunting.

I'm 73 and I do both, although my 'run and gun' is more walk quickly and gun.  However, I learned to shoot pistol with a 1911 under Uncle Sam's supervision and that was all one-handed, since it was likely you were going to need your other hand for other things.

I still like shooting one handed at each range outing, weak and strong hand, but even two handed, i obsess about aim and POI/groups, although I can do better faster than I could before trying run and gun.

I like people who shoot and figure I can always stand to learn something from most polite people with experience.  I like the style of this forum, and I love my first CZ, which I acquired in the last month.  It has brought a whole new fun to me shooting a pistol that feels like it was made for my hand.

Anyone care to fill me in on the constructive nature of this post?  I am apparently too senile to have figured it out.

Bulleseye/Run and Gun knock your socks off!  However, if one were to find themselves in a real gunfight and either arm/hand can't be used it could be advantageous to be able to shoot one handed with EITHER  hand.

While I don’t shoot bullseye, I do shoot IDPA and when I match direct, I design stages often with strong hand or weak hand only stages. Usually get groans when we do the walk through but afterwards I hear how most enjoyed the challenge

Joe L, you are right.  I have had some time with the 97E, and it is easily the best 45 I have shot, ever.
