CZ 75B
« on: December 21, 2021, 10:40:04 PM »
Newbie here.
Thinking about buying my first CZ, the CZ 75B. Curious as to what all those who have shot or own one think about it. TIA

I have a 75B Omega, it's a terrific pistol. You will not be disappointed in any of the CZ 75 models.

I have five of them that are not the omega system, and all of them are excellent.

The 75B is a great choice for a reasonably priced full size steel pistol.

I have the 75BD (decocker) model and love it. I did cajunize it and it is now the best 9mm that I own. Very accurate!

The things I like about a metal frame CZ pistol:

They fit my hand really well, probably better than anything else I've held.  I actually like the P01s slightly better (same design/angles but the grooves in the frames just make it feel better to me.

They are accurate.  Some more than others.  Like anything else there are differences one to the next.  Different trigger feels, different accuracy, some shoot one kind of ammo better/worse than a seemingly identical pistol.

They are tough and reliable.  I had a 9MM case separate at the base of the case walls, eject the base, leave the case walls in the chamber.  Didn't even know it till the next round failed to feed and chamber.  Lots of extra powder residue in the chamber/frame/magazine well and the top rounds in the magazine were really dirty/blackened.  Dug the case walls out of the chamber, inserted the magazine and kept on shooting it, no problems.  Got pictures of it, too.  Had it been a plastic framed pistol I might have had damage to my hand/fingers and lost the pistol/frame (as we see pictures of that sometimes on the internet.)

I like the availability of parts.  Not just the seemingly big three of CZ USA (factory parts), CZ Custom (factory and custom upgrade parts) and Cajun Gun Works (factory and custom upgrade parts) but you can get custom springs, sights, grips, etc. from several other makers.

And there are a lot of folks here that work on and upgrade their CZ pistols.  They make videos of how to disassemble/reassemble them, fit upgraded parts, polish internal surfaces to smooth out the action, etc.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I'm a lefty so a model 85 (ambi version of the 75B) and a stainless 75B (ambi safety), liked the first enough to buy the second one. They like a Hi-Power fit my hand well.

excellent pistol- great grip feel and such-all the stock versions can do with a trigger job, as do practically all pistols that are not specially  tuned, like the Orange 2 and the Shadow's 8)

My 75B is my first CZ. The grip profile is excellent. Trigger is pretty good in DA, with a bit of creep in the SA trigger. It does have a slight downside for not having a light rail though. If you want a light to go onto your pistol, I would recommend you look at the SP-01 lineup, which is basically the same pistol with a light rail.

Overall, I'm really happy with my 75B.

I recently bought a 75B Compact and I was surprised by how far forward the trigger is in D/A. For my hand size, it is an uncomfortable stretch (the reach is fine in SA). I am going to have to install a "Reach Reduction Kit" from Cajun Gun Works and see how that feels... I have a 75B SA and a P10-F and the trigger reach was good for me so this was not something I considered prior to making the online purchase.
If you have a larger hand you will be fine, but if possible you should actually try it in your hand.

Yeah, different actions, different triggers (shape is different, too, not just positioning in the trigger guard).

I really don't think about the triggers much unless they pinch my finger when I pull the trigger and the pistol recoils.  I guess as long as it feels okay there is really no reason to notice it.

Not recommending it but you can convert the Compact to SAO like the CZ75 SA you're already used to handling/firing.  I carry my CZ's cocked and locked so I shoot them SA all the time anyway.  Can't see that a CZ converted to SAO would be any less safe than cocked and locked.

I know this is a little older thread BUT, I feel compelled to offer this bit of advive to someone new to Cz’s……though Omega triggers are available in the polymer line and in a limited capacity in the steel line, the standard CZ trigger (anything not identified as “Omega”) is just plain better in so many facets…..No “Omega’s”, it sounds cool, but thats where the appeal ends.  Striker fire models are excellent too…..just NO Omega’s
