10x bushing too tight?
« on: January 21, 2022, 06:41:06 AM »
Hello,

I recently purchased 10x barrel bushing for my shadow 2 and managed to install it without problems. However when I now try to assemble the gun, I no longer can fit the barrel in the slide. As shown in some tutorial videos, I gave it a few very light taps due to it being so tight and it drops in but refuses to move forward at all inside the slide and past the bushing. The barrel can still be removed with relative ease from the slide.

I will attach a couple pictures I took to try and show the situation a bit better.

Did you use loctite during installation?

No I did not and don’t remember reading about this either or it being mentioned in the videos.

And something I forgot to mention earlier; I tested the bushing before installing and it fit around the barrel just fine, though tightly.

I had CG install mine while they were milling the slide for an optic. It's tight getting the barre in and out of the slide, but otherwise no issue.

The bushing is held in place by the front sight pin.  No locktite needed.

Please don't think that this is a flippant answer...you really need to hold your mouth open just the right way and it will suddenly slide into the bushing.   Same with removing it.

I have to gently fiddle with it and before I can pay attention to what I exactly did it will suddenly fit in.

There have been plenty of threads asking this same question.

Your quickest solution would be to call CGW directly.

I’m 10 timezones from them in another country, so thought I’d try asking here in case people have had similar experiences.

Ive spent hours trying to fiddle it and giving light taps to it like shown in the few videos about the installation. Will keep trying.

Will the barrel move into the bushing if you stick the muzzle end into the bushing from the front of the slide? I'm wondering if you caused any distortion upon installing the bushing? Also did you line up the notch in the bushing so the sight pin slides in as it should?

It does not fit from the front. I was thinking about the dostortion as well, but how would this happen? I lined up the notch and it went perfectly on the first try,  tested it with punch before instaling the pin. It went in quite easily as well. What you imagine could have caused the distortion?

CZ’s can still spit the bushing out even with the pin installed. Using a retaining compound will combat this.

I would measure barrel O.D and bushing I.D.
Contact CGW with the measurements. Guessing the bushing is out of spec.

I agree and CGW does also show different size bushings for the regular guns vs the Shadow so I wonder if he either ordered the wrong one or was mistakenly sent the wrong one.
