Sight/ milling options for Tactical?
« on: November 28, 2022, 11:39:49 AM »
Greetings. I bought an sp-01 tactical a couple years ago and finally started shooting it. I’ve also decided I want a pistol w a red dot. I found some places online that can can mill this guy, but am also thinking about sight options. I cant seem to find suppressor size sights for the Tactical model. Is there any milling/ optic combo that will allow me to co-witness w the standard nights that came on the pistol?

Thanks!

A friend had his MS SP01 (non decocker) done.  He sent the Slide and SRO to CGW and they did the milling and installed their proprietary plate and co-witnessed BUS.  He is very happy with the results.

Recommend you reach out to CGW.

Fully agree to go with CGW. They can do the complete job, with correct parts and do it right.

Primary Machine did a great job on both of my SP-01s (safety models).

The holosun 507K has a rear sight built into the body of the red dot. I had CZ custom mill my SP-01 Tactical for that RDS and the stock front sight lined up perfectly. They have a new closed emitter version called the EPS Carry coming out too. It has the same footprint.

Thanks— so you have a front night sight and regular on the rear?

Also, I’d assumed I’d need a suppressor size sights but am brand new to the optics idea so could be wrong.

In most cases, you do need suppressor height sights. That's what I have on my SRO-equipped glock.

CZ Custom did away with my stock rear sight when they milled my slide for the holosun sight. The only rear sight now is the one built into the body of the red dot. I did this on my PCR as well.

There is no turning back once you do it (aside from getting a new slide) so it is a considerable commitment.

If you go with the RDS optic plate system by CZ Custom, you can purchase a fixed sight plate and swap between iron sights and Optic as needed/wanted.  I went that route with my Carry optic build for flexibility and resale value.

Cheers,

CZ Custom said all their cuts will remove the rear site, so that’s out.

Recommend you reach out to CGW.

I did and they got back to me, butI need to know which optic I want installed to make the magic happen. Any idea which one your friend used?

Along those same lines does anyone know any specific optics for my goals?

Thanks all!

The Trijicon SRO is generally considered a safe bet for most use-cases.  Also the SRO footprint is shared with some other decent reddots.

AZ Gunguy beat me to it.  My buddy had a trijicon SRO mounted to his SP01.   As an aside he was fortunate to win the SRO at the WA state IDPA match last summer.

I just discovered how much the Trijicon costs. I really appreciate everyone’s input (especially those with a cheaper alternative 😂)!

For anyone interested in these same goals, the closest I’ve found is CGW can mill for the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and that guy can take an attached rear sight.

I found very few pics online of this on the sp-01 and it sits slightly over the hammer — really looks like a dingleberry a dog can’t get rid of, not sure I will be doing this, but YMMV.

I recently purchased an SP-01Shadow from CZ Custom that they milled and installed my SRO on.

No rear sight, but it is a dedicated range-only pistol so that did not matter to me.

Great job on the milling.
