Thoughts on Concealed Carry CZ Pistol
« on: July 05, 2023, 03:29:52 AM »
I'm looking for a new CZ pistol for concealed carry. I like the P10C, P07 and P09. Are there other opinion on the best CZ concealed carry. Please reply to this thread and if you have any of the three pistol mentioned please reply to this thread or send me a PM. Many thanks.

The P09 is a full sized pistol.  Some carry them concealed, but they might not be "concealed."

The P07 should be fine if you get the right holster(s) and dress for it.

The PCR, P01 and CZ75 Compact are about the same size as the P07 but metal framed and may be a little heavier.

I routinely carry a P07 and have carried a P01 or CZ75 Compact.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

It just depends on what you want. There are a number of fine CZ choices. First off determine if you want striker or hammer fired. If striker one of the P-10C or S models would be great. If hammer, P-07, PCR, and P-01 are all good choices. If going hammer determine if you want a rail for a light or not. There are some other choices as well, but those are some of the main ones.

I'd rule out the P-09. It's a great gun but larger than I personally would want to conceal.

Always carry the biggest pistol you can shoot well and comfortably and effectively conceal. If you ever need to use it, you'll never say 'I wish I had a smaller gun with less capacity'.

Pistol frame size will vary for each person due to frame size of that person.

I can carry a full size pistol (B6, 1911, Ruger P89) around without much problem, with only an open button down shirt on.  I have a large sized frame, and thus a large frame pistol isn't too much of a problem.  It helps that I have been carrying pistols since the early nineties.....lots of practice and knowledge gained for my personal needs.  My dress style has been pretty much unchanged since the nineties also; a few changes in colors and pattern/material style to be somewhat modern.....but unchanged.

The best money spent will be the proper holster and belt to carry whatever works for you.  THAT is not the place to scrimp when making your choices.  Quality first.  And go with makers that have their stuff down.

CZ Rami, CZ PCR, CZ P01

While Grendel's advice, excerpted below, is generally good advice -- I'd first caution you that the gun you will always have on you beats an ideal gun that cannot or do not always have on your person.  And same goes for a gun on your person versus in a backpack or otherwise stashed near at hand b/c it's too large/heavy to carry or keep on your belt.

Always carry the biggest pistol you can shoot well and comfortably and effectively conceal. If you ever need to use it, you'll never say 'I wish I had a smaller gun with less capacity'.

Like Colion in the video below, I live in Texas where we wear summer clothes 6+ months of the year and can only really wear layers comfortably 3 months...  So I think the perspective here is worthy of consideration.

I prefer Shoulder holsters, 97s and other full sized steel pistols - but I work from home and don't get out that much, when I do, it's running errands.
I like the shoulder holster much better if your getting in/out of a car. I save the hip holsters for the fun range days.
Most people that shy at carrying steel pistols are easily defeated by stairs to take that for what its worth.

I carry the P10S.

Its the perfect size for my hand and is more controllable than the micro 9s like the Sig 365 and the Hellcat.

I don't think I would recommend the P10M based on reviews that I have read.

The P10Ms also lack a firing pin block/safety, and irrespective of the potential issues with the novel firing pin safety/block of the other P10 variants, it's something worth being aware of.

I have a P10s a P07 and a P01. And they are a good for carrying. I mostly carry the P10s it carries very nice and fits nicely IWB and OWB. I carry the P07 for work every day and love it. And the P01 just hangs out in the safe most of the time.  Overall I love all my CZs and they all carry very good for me.

The PCR, P01 and CZ75 Compact are about the same size as the P07 but metal framed and may be a little heavier.
You would think the P-07 w/ its polymer frame would have a significant weight savings over the P-01 & PCR, but it does not.

PCR - 27.5 oz
P-07 - 27.7 oz
P-01 - 28.1 oz

As a reference, 0.2 oz is about the weight of a US nickel.

Nearly all poly guns' frames have steel inserts and most poly guns also require a bit more material thickness for similar strength to various aluminum alloys.

Doesn't apply to CZs, but you'll find that that the German Sigs with stamped slides weigh a fair bit less and balance better (especially w/o a mag or even w/ an empty mag) than the newer milled stainless slide ones.  Notice it less with full mags, but it's still there.

For instance, my W German P228s weight pretty much the same as my SP2022s but most of the weight difference is in the heavier milled stainless slide, which also exacerbates recoil and increases shooting splits due to more moving mass at the top...
