Surplus Jericho 941F
« on: July 20, 2023, 11:54:14 AM »
Hello all, new here. Recently purchased a surplus Jericho 941F.  Works great and I purchased a new firing pin spring.  Disassemble gun and remove old spring and FP, put new spring in and put back together now FP won’t lock into safety plunger and hammer won’t stay back.

Regards
Mr. Jim

Welcome. Several questions. Is it SAO? Was it pretty grungy when you got it and did you clean it? Did you inspect the firing pin channel? Post some pics of the sear cage area when possible also.

Yes SAO IMI. It was and I cleaned in ultrasonic cleaner, then dried and reoiled. Worked great still. It wasn’t until I went to swap out FP spring that it wouldn’t work. The FP channel looks good until the wall and then it looks kinda rough.  It’s like the safety plunger is too long. I’ll get some pictures later.
Thanks for replying!

This is just so I understand, nothing more.

If the pistol worked prior to new firing pin, why did you replace it?  Was original worn, out of spec, deformed, whatever?  Spring I can understand, they wear out.

And, does the pistol work if the OEM parts are replaced back into the slide?

I am the guy that likes to eliminate as many possible "problems" with replacement parts as possible.

I only changed the spring. Also when I put the old spring back in it does the same thing now. Totally baffling.

DOH!!!!  Went back and reread the posts, then realized I was trying to multitask when I initally read it.....my mistake on what you did.

I bet there was possibly a bit of crud that was loosened up, and is now lodged in there messing things up.  I would try cleaning it out one more time, and see if that does the trick.  Even go at it with some compressed air to blow things out of there.

Did you rotate the Firing Pin to the wrong side?  ???

Check the sear spring.

The lower was not disassembled, only grips removed.

I’ll check again.

It still wouldn’t hurt just to check that sear spring if you haven’t already. It might be broken and you may not notice it without looking closely at it. Just a suggestion.
