IPSC/USPSA

Any females here shoot IPSC?  I'm just curious because I shot my first local match last month and have another this weekend... last match was 61 shooters... 60 males and me!  I'm wondering if that kinda ratio exists everywhere, or just here.

Some of the most active members in our club are women...they pretty much run things (President, VP, Secretary/Treasurer) and I can't say enough good things about all they do.  Altogether, there's probably five or six regular female shooters at our matches (out of 35 - 45 shooters).

Aly Thats great that your shooting matches. I personally don't due to personal issues. I am sure that there might be a few lady competion shooters here some where. Keep up the good work. ;D

Sadly, in our local group it's about the same. I'm trying like crazy to talk my daughter (25) into it, but she only likes rifles.

When I ran a local indoor range down in Tucson years ago, we had several women shooters, ranging from a rich girl who bragged about taking every class Gunsite offered, (didn't show  :-\), to one I respected greatly. She walked in with a stiff, jerky motion, little bit of a girl, carrying a large 1911 that she could shoot very well. She had broken her back years prior in a sporting accident, and had been told she would never walk again. She walks, not well, but well enough to shoot IDPA, and have plenty of fun. Her boyfriend treated her like a queen...because we wouldn't let him treat her any other way! 8) Haven't seen her in 7 years, but I'll never forget that courage and determination, and that poor guy hadn't realized at the time, that she had just set that same stuff on getting a ring from him...expect they have three kids by now.  ;D

Our Club's Weekly Practice IPSC Match usually has about 4 to 6 ladies participate and about 20 to 25 guys.  Monthly USPSA sanctioned matches have about 8 to 10 ladies participate and about 35 to 50 guys.  Match Turnout has been up lately.  ;D

None of them shoot CZ's or Tanfoglio based Clones.  Mostly 1911's, Glocks, Beretta's, and Springfield XD's.

Thanks for the responses everyone!  I'm anxious to see if there are any more females this weekend... I'm hoping!  It's rather intimidating to be the only female... and new!  If I were already good and kicking their collective butts, it'd be a different story LOL.

Another odd thing... I am the only shooter using a CZ!  When I was researching guns, for this specific competition, I was really determined to shoot CZ... so it amazes me all the people shooting Glock and XD... although being in this minority doesn't intimidate me... because I know I have the better gun *smirk*

out of 25 folks we get about 4 regular ladies here in georgia, and we usually get about one a month that walks in looking for info about what we do. oddly enough, of the people that come in to look for info, more than half the time it's female.

And you probably pushed 60 males out of first place too!

It would be nice to get a lot more women involved, unfortunately we have no matches of any kind in our 1.5 horse town... :(

My daughter shoots 3-gun, IPSC and long range comps with me.

There are usually 3-5 other female shooters at the 3-gun and IPSC matches here, but she is usually the only female at the long range matches.
