This is just an advise and is derived from experience military and civilian.
If you make it a habit of familiarizing yourself with any new weapon, pistol or rifle, meaning field stripping it, knowing and observing how parts are enjoined with each other and doing functions check on the safeties, decocker and moving parts before range time, you will find that:
1. You can, but not always, be able to detect problems or major malfunctions before they happen.
2. Understand the inner and outer functions of your firearm so that you have a very good idea how a malfunction, stoppage, ftf, fte had occured and how to correct it.
3. Enjoy your first day on the range with better confidence and better understanding of your weapon.
