My Poor-man's DOH for the Duty
« on: April 04, 2009, 03:42:00 AM »
Kydex showed up yesterday, and luckily for me Harbor Freight had the heat guns on sale for $10.

So a couple hours later, I have the poor-man's Dropped Offset Holster for my P07.  I didn't think I could wait for Bladetech to try it out on USPSA night.

This was my first attempt at Kydex work, and I didn't get started til midnight after a couple long-islands  ::), so it isn't real "purty" per se.  But it'll work!

And I still have lots more kydex to monkey with!   ;D

I'll hit my dad's place tomorrow and clean up the corners & whatnot with his belt sander to make it a little more presentable.  Cool thing is that it's about $9 worth of materials and $5 of that is the belt loop that can be swapped to any other holster if I want.  I can also flip the belt loop around to make it ride high for carry.  I've still hot some minor tweaks to make because the serial number plate is gradually shaving the insides, but whatever...  I'm tickled with it!   ;)

Nice job.  ;D  How about trying an IWB model too?  8)

Tried to send you a PM - holler if it didn't make it through.

This one is from 0.080" sheet; I'll start playing with the 0.093" next to see if its a little more durable.

The holster looks good to me. For less than $10 you can't beat it. The best part is you have the holster now and don't have to wait 3 to 6 months for someone to come out with their design.

I love how innovative CZF members are. Seems like you guys are willing to go the extra mile to get something new and exciting
to work for your guns.

My Blackhawk SOB for a G19 also fits my P07, but the side frame stippling scratches the inside of the leather pretty heavily.

How tight is the Don Hume?

Perfectly, as if it was made for it.  I was quite surprized.

That's a pretty darn good job for the first try.   I have been monkeying with kydex holsters for several months now.    The more you work with it the better you get.
