New favorite color of duracoat on my CZ82....VZ2000
« on: December 15, 2010, 10:49:17 PM »
I recently duracoated one of my CZ82s with VZ2000 duracoat and just love the color.  It is a blue gray and I think it looks very good on the 82.  I will add some more pics later on.  Can't decide on the VZ2000 grip panels or the black...

This is one of the Century parts pistols they were selling a while back for 79.00.  Rep told me it had a bad barrel and actually arrived with a brand new lands/grooves barrel.  Only needed a 35.00 slide stop.  Not bad for a $120.00!

That color looks REALLY good, very nice craftsmanship on it... I'm thinking those VZ2000 and VZ2008 rifles that century has done in black would look really good in Duracoat VZ2000.

Thanks!  I agree, I have a friend that has a Century rifle that I need to talk into letting me duracoat with the VZ2000 to see how it looks.

Just curious, would it be possible to paint the extractor also or would it get visible chipping from basic function? I think black (or mid to dark gray) extractor, grips, hammer and all hardware would really look swell!

I wish I had the skill and ability you have. I don't think I'm even capable of detail stripping my 75 down to where I could think about  a detail clean, let alone refinishing it!

Someday I'll try it, and I'm sure it will end up at my local GS in a shoebox with me asking for help  ??? :-[

Very nice...I wish I felt like I had the cahones to put mine back together.  I've taken apart all of my milsurp bolt actions but the number of parts on the 82 just puts me off to doing it.

The color's great, but a nice set of ash wood grips in grey stain from Marschal's would be a nice touch.

I DuraCoated the extractor on mine. It chipped the first time I fired it, but I think it was an improper prep issue. I stripped and resprayed it, and it's held up fine ever since.

Yes, I normally duracoat the extractor, unless I am going with the original black finish.  Decided to leave it on this one.  SMSgt, you might be right on the marschal grips, I have seen those before and I bet they would look nice on this one!

That's the ash grips on my avatar. Not a good quality pic. They're a bit lighter than the photo.

Ahhhhh .... mannnn!
 You are killing me ;)

I picked up my CZ82 this fall and just ordered a vz58 in that color.
I think I need a matched set now.

Very Nice job!

I REALLY like the semi gloss black and the OD green & black. I stripped mine and cold blued it, but it's no where near this nice. I've often considered looking around for someone to Duracoat mine. Is it expensive?
