I've been thinking about loading up some Hornady XTP's. Anyone shoot these through their 97 yet?

I've shot a few different HP's through mine with no troubles and I was wondering how the truncated style bullet would work. Anybody have any trouble with the truncated cone style bullets?

Thanks.

Not yet so please post what you experiance when you shoot some theough your 97B. I have been reading about them and will most likely try some my self. I like the idead of a solid copper bullet.

I've put about 300 of the 185gr XTPs and about 500 of the 230gr XTPs through my CZ 97B without issue at all.

The XTP is one of the best feeding bullets in the high performance HP's in my experience, if a Gold Dot hang up go to the XTP and you should have no problems.

Glad to hear it. I've had no problems with Gold Dots or Sabers so far. Guess it's time to order XTP's.

Hornady loads the XYP, and I am sure some of the other manufactures like Double Tap and Black Hills would offer XTP loads.  I reload so it is not a problem for me.  The XTP is a great high performance bullet as is the Gold Dot and Golden Saber.  Some guns have a problem with feeding the Gold Dot; if your gun is one of them try the Golden Saber by Remington or the XTP by Hornady.  As a self defense load you can't go wrong with any of them.

I don't believe the XTP is a solid bullet.  None the less they are really good bullet (A few deer will attest to that0.

I just picked me up a box of 200gr +p Hornandy XTP ammo. Now I just need to hit the range. I was a little suprised at the lower cost of the Hornandy stuff vs the other brands of carry ammo. If this stuff works good it will be my new .45 pesonal protection ammo. You are also correct about it not being pure copper. I guess that is another line of Hornandy stuff. I still want to try some solid copper stuff sometime.

I never had a problem feeding hollow points using Black Hills ammo before.  (And, of course, never had problems with ball ammo).  However, I just tried Double Tap's hot 230gr and out of 15 rounds I had 2 ftf's.  The Gold Dot of the hangup ammo looks pretty battered both times.  I just re-racked the slide and both times the hangup round chambered and fired OK.  I have a 16lb. recoil spring and full-length CZ steel guide rod.  I wonder if moving up to 18 or 20lb. recoil spring would solve this problem.  As per the DT website, their 230gr goes at 1020fps out of a 5" barrel.  That's pretty hot.  Any thoughts?

How many rounds do you have through your CZ 97B?  I ask because I just went through a period for failures to feed that started recently and did not go away until I removed the extractor and did a thorough cleaning job.  Once back together, it fed everything.

Might want to try that first.
