Kansas,
Thanks for the note - when it finally came down to it, I decided that a compact 9mm was the most pragmatic choice, and ended up getting a PCR. So far I've been very, very happy with it.
The trigger still needs to be broken in some more (I have a Ruger Mk II with a trigger job, so I am spoiled). I think that the double action on the CZ83 is very, very sweet and I hope that my PCR gets that nice (the DA seems to be breaking in nicely with dry firing).
The SA is a nice weight, but it seems to be longer and rougher than the SA on the 83. The 83 broke very, very cleanly (my PCR is pretty clean too, but not as clean). I'm hoping that things will break in more.
I looked around in the action of my PCR, and I don't feel ambitious enough to do any polishing myself to speed things along.
I had shot a Sig P232 and found the recoil to be almost "pleasant" - but I'm starting to realize that the Hogue rubber grip on it is what made it so easy to control. If the recoil is distracting, you might want to look into some kind of rubber slip-on. In the past, I never liked Glocks very much, but the other night I shot a Glock with a Hand-All on it, and found it to be fairly comfy. The Hand-All was key.
