The finish actually was a little rough (it looked tarnished and kind of flat) since it was used (and originally from North Carolina so a bit more humidity than here), but I spent quite a while with a microfiber and Renaissance Wax to clean it up.
I removed it from its plastic bag and started to dry buff it with the microfiber and found I was pulling a tiny bit of finish rust (yes I know the bluing is an oxidized finish).
So I started waxing it and just polished as I waxed. I used the wax and not any polish so that I would minimize removing any Bluing.
Tough to do when you are trying to remove another form of oxidation.
At first there was some brown then gradually each coat got less and less brown on the cloth until I got to the finish you see here.
