New Grip Source
« on: January 02, 2014, 12:45:51 AM »
Just spotted a seller on gunbroker.com making and selling grips made out of a resin compound. I bet if someone sent them a set of grips she could make a mold and make an endless supply of them. For instance; no one is currently making aftermarket grips for the K2-45 and some other Sarsilmaz pistols.

The thing I like was the prices starting at $15 a set. They have them for all sorts of guns so if someone just wanted to change up the look a bit; they could without hitting the wallet too hard.

It might even be possible to sand them down to make them thinner. They do have full size CZ and Tanfoglio grips in various colors.

I was looking at those a couple weeks ago and forgot all about them. I want some for my Ruger Mark II and if I like them a couple more guns. They look great but are probably to good to be true.

I'd put them on my Witness Limited as soon as I find out what will fit.

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

"I do not have smooth grips for the CZ75 only the checkered. I can make a mold from your K2 grips and make those for you. Is your K2 new or used? My process will capture any imperfections in the grips."

so far.  Asked about smooth for 75 and about K2 in general.  Volunteered to send him a couple.

Excellent! I bet someone handy with a common 1" belt sander could do wonders with one of these and put some skate board adhesive sand tape to make it feel just right. I'm partial to rubber grips but am ok with the sand tape.

One of the members on the all tanfoglio and witness forum sent him some witness grips so now he has them for the tanfoglio in large and small frame.  There's a thread about it on that forum called witness grips.

I got some of the large frame ones for some of my large frame witnesses.  They were basically made from the older style large frame rubber grips.  The resin was real easy to sand and polish with some polishing cloths that I got from amazon.  Here's a video I made about it.  They came out pretty good, especially the faux wood ones.

In the below video there are also some views of another set in white that I sanded and polished.

Anyway, Dave was real easy to work with and I ordered 2 of the sets I got just through emailing with him instead of through gunbroker.

Here's a link to his website:  http://www.tillandergungrips.com/index.html

K2 grips are up on GB now:

Wow, he got them up quick. Those grips were made from molds of my k245 grips. I sent them to him last week to make me some replacements, just in case I needed them. My grips and the ones he made me should be at my door soon, if not waiting on me when I get home tomorrow.

I was going to post about them when I got them in. David is great to work with and the grips are very good for what u pay.

I've been talking to him for the past week about these, and he's been quick to reply to my questions.  He appears to be rather flexible color on as well.  Since I'm not a fan of either of the colors on GB, I will be dealing with him direct.

Yeah he can do u pretty much any color u like. His faux wood looks pretty good. Here's some large frame witness grips I had him make. U can tell they were molded from the older model textured rubber grips. I sanded and polished them to make them look like the one on the right.

I wonder if giving the grips a few light coats of Plasti-dip would give them a more grippy feel yet smooth them out a bit. Nice thing about Plasti-dip is it can be peeled off if not liked for any reason. Can get it all kinds of colors too including clear if you like the base color of the grip itself.

I ordered some grips for my CZ85 from https://coppergungrips.com/.   I asked him if he could make some for a K2 45.    I will let you all know what I find out.    They are a little more expensive than this, but they are supposed to be like a stippled grip.

Okay guys, I got my grips back from David.  They all turned out pretty good.  Especially the SAR K2-45 grips.  And remember he can do pretty much any color you'd like.  See the pics below.

These are the copies of the Ebay cz75 grips on a Tristar p120

these are the SAR K245 grips, just love the white ones

What do you all think?

My grips came in today.  Great fit.   Seem to be just a touch slimmer than stock.   But much fatter than the grips on my son's Shadow Target.   Surface it like a high quality, but only moderately agressive stippling job.    Makes it feel like the gun is almost bonded to your hand, without being painful.

He says he's planning on making some for SAR K2 45.   If he makes them, I will get 2 sets.   One black or grey for when I want to be tacticool and one in pink or similar color to stand out at a match.
