THAT'S when everything works perfectly! Met my buddy at the range this morning, and I decided to go "light", with just the 527CSR and Thugly. I put the Thug out at 100 yards, when we could get a break on a line dominated by Tactical Tonys, every variant os AR-15 you could see. Targets were at least at 50 yards and a couple at 100 yards, so these guys were a class above the crowd from last time.
I didn't bring my stool deliberately, as I wanted to practice my off hand, so I started shooting. I kept it to 4 out of 5 usually, with some 5 out of 5. A couple of times he jumped a chain hook and ended up swinging. Stop shooting? Heck no - moving target! Amazingly enough I hit him several times without hitting the stand leg he was swinging in front of...
At one point the two guys to my left were banging away with a black tacticool AKM clone at a steel caltrop target about 30 yards out. It took one of them 30 rounds to hit it once. They were loading up while I dumped 5 out of 5 cast bullet hand loads into the Thug, and turned around to see them both staring at me, so...I said something. Probably NOT the most diplomatic thing I could have said, but the guy with the NFA shorty AR with its thunderous side concussions had put me off my feed a little...
"Hit something, don't just make noise."
They nodded, and actually started using the sights on their ComBlo blaster. Go figure.
All in all a very good way to start off the week with everything it has in store for us. I just love shooting that little carbine!
