Riptide....One question on this target.  How do we score shots that are on a line.  Clever using an archery target.  At 50 yds this will be a good challenge for my eyes.  May have to try with scope too.
Shooting with my kids and grandkids....that is a fine time.

I was sure thinking of all the "Older Eyes" including myself!  ;D

On the line counts as the high number. So if you are on the line between 8 and 9, it will count as a 9.

Those of us with old, bleary, bifocaled and bespeckled eyes thank you! Hope I can make time to get out and shoot this one.

Oh boy......this was a tough target for me to see at 50 yds.  So  I shot both the iron target with my CZ Lux that has a J&P peep and also a scope target with my CZ American,  9x at 75 yds.   Both are 22 lr. The groupings were kinda similar. I think scores are 89 irons and 92 scope, but would like someone else to also score this.   I used CCI SV ammo this go around.  I think I will order some fancy ELEY or Lapua ammo to try out someday.

Nice shooting at 50 yards, Rimfire7. I concur with an 89 on that target.

I think I will get out today to shoot this one. Have to put some new shocks on my vehicle to pass inspection, but that shouldn't take too long. I also need to get some better ammo for the 452 UL, I don't think the Golden Bullet does justice to the rifle.

Very nice Rimfire7. I concur with the score.

Hoping to get out this afternoon with my nephew.  He only comes up from Florida once a year. Last year I had him at the pistol range for his 1st time. He has never shot rifle so will take the 452 irons and the 527 scoped .223 form him to try. Both of us will definitely shoot the 50 yard match. Lets see how he does!

Which sights fall under the iron category?

Any sight that does not have magnification. We are fine with electronic sights (Red Dots)
Get to the range and SHOOT! That is the goal.  ;)

Went with my son & nephew. (Been trying to get my 25 year old son to go for 2 years)
Shot the 452UL Stock Irons, 452UL with scope, and the 527 Carbine in .223. Have a wonderful day.

We shot at 25, 50, 75, & 100 yards. Shot the match target when it was at 50 Yards.
It took me 3 shots to get targeted in. The shot the next 7 I was honed in! The one bottom left was definitely a flyer! My son was spotting and about there 8th shot he said way low left! There was NO WAY that shot could go there so it had to be a flyer. That's what I get for $3 per box ammo!

Score was 88 - Very Happy with that!

Wow Riptide....those 6 shots are some really great 10's.   Congrats!   That flyer messed you up or you would have had an awesome score.  I think with some more consistent ammo you would do very well indeed.

I shot this yesterday, but I'm not gonna bother posting up the pictures. I shot an 82 on my target for scoring. I did shoot an 88 or 89 on a practice target, but that also had 10 other shots on it, so no good for scoring.

I was very frustrated with my shooting yesterday. Actually, more so frustrated with my vision. I just cant seem to be able to focus on the front sight, and get a consistent sight picture. I wear "multi-focal" smooth transition lenses, and when I have a comfortable cheek-weld, the front sight is blurry. I can't really move my head into a position so that the front sight is in focus. Also, the target at 50 yards is just so much out of focus that I am sure that I am not getting a consistent aiming point. The target seems to "flatten out" (some sort of optical illusion, if you know what I mean), and I am all over the place with my shots. No real grouping.

I bought this 452 UL because I like to shoot with open-sights, but I am wondering if I should face the facts, and opt for a scope. But then, is the 452 UL the right rifle to be scoped? Or is there a better CZ rifle for a scope? Or is there something that can be done about my eyes and glasses. I don't know, all I know is that I wasn't real happy yesterday, but I don't know what to do about it. UGH!

Thanks Rimfire7. That flyer really stunk!  :( but you are right. Better ammo would help.
Still happy. Had a great time with the boys.

Bummer on the lack of focus on the target. My eye doc moved my bifocal point up closer to center for shooting.  Once he did that the front sight came into focus. We all seem to be I  same boat but this target seemed much clearer to me today. Having a spotter helped tremendously today.  No matter - the range day was fun.

I have a scope on a 2nd older UL and love it. I would shoot just as well with a shorter barrel but just love the UL.
