What're you going to use it for?  3gun, sage rats, range toy?

All of the above?  ;)

Smitty, I am going to outfit it for 3-Gun, and once I have the experience to know what I want different, I'll start building a dedicated 3-Gun rifle and return this one to general purpose status.

Truth be told, I bought the Aimpoint because I haven't decided yet what 1-4 gamer scope I want, and I didn't want to risk buying a scope I would be unsatisfied with and want to replace immediately when I could buy an Aimpoint that I would have a use for otherwise when I get the scope I want.  Unfortunately, I realized 5 minutes into my first bit of range time with the rifle that I was going to need a magnified optic sooner than later if I wanted to squeeze as much accuracy as possible out of load development, so I need to either figure out what gamer scope I want in a hurry, or I need to get a picatinny mount for one of my 1" tubes.

Don't get a 1X4.   Get a 1X6.   My son has a Primary Arms.    If you can find one, they are great to start on.   The next upgrade beyond that is over $1k.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

Why not 1-4?  I have no personal preference as I have not shot a rifle set up for this purpose and am more or less judging by what is commonly used.  I would think that 1-4 would be good out to 300-400 yds, and the rare targets out to 600 doable, no?  I can get good 1-4 scopes in the 600 - 800 range, while a good 1-6 is 1000-1400.  I'll even look into a magnifier for a red dot.  Either a 3x or a 2-5.  A 3-gun shooter I was talking to at the store where I bought the rifle runs a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x, keeps the Trijicon on 3x as a default, flips it up to 4x when he needs it, and uses BUIS at 45 degrees for CQ.  That setup seems to be a fairly common theme in my reading.

Have you seen that big an advantage in the 6x?

I have the nikon M-223, 1-4, and I works great for fast shots out to 300. It's not for pin-point accuracy, but it gets'm on target! The glass is clear and the turrets work great, but I'm not so happy with the reticle I picked. They have a single dot point-blank range and a bullet drop reticle. I picked the bullet drop, oops!. The 223 ballistics are so flat out to 300 that the hash marks are too close and too fine to pick up quickly. Wish I would have gone with a dot and used a combat zero, then just hold over or under (like you do with open sights), or if I have the time use the turret adjustments.

I also have the Primary Arms 1-6 with the 300 blackout reticle and like the magnification range and apparent build quality. The reticle seems busy and too complicated for a low tech guy like me! I can't say how it works because it hasn't made it to the range yet  :'(

If you want to try the 45 offset sights check out the eBay cheapie for $20. They had a sale with free shipping, I was tired, might have had a beer or three when I ordered.. anyway the point is the build quality is amazing for the price point. Another disclaimer; I have only played with these at my bench and have not used them at the range, but don't see any problem with them for an occasional close up shot. (In my defense I haven't been to the range in a while because it has been hellishly hot here and I'm not the A-man - been a lot busy too)
