Scorpion Stocks Current Production vs Airsoft
« on: February 25, 2015, 12:08:30 AM »
Had the opportunity today to put one of the airsoft scorpion stocks next to the current one that is on the post sample sub guns

ASG who make the Airsoft Scorpion say that it is made on real CZ molds with the same materials and I think once you look at the pictures you will agree even the mold witness marks are identical

There is 3 main differences the new CZ stock has a magnet to hold it folded and the ASG has a hook this is the same as the original Scorpion EVO guns I saw in Europe, the next difference is that the stock cap that mounts to the body is alloy on the CZ and plastic on the ASG but again I swear the the original CZ stock was all plastic so I have to assume they had some issues with the plastic caps and I doubt that ASG retooled a mold just for the stock cap and would also of gone for the CNC alloy option if the mold was not already available, and lastly the CZ stock has a rubber butt pad and the ASG is solid, again just like the early EVO

Looking at this EVO on a Czech website it appears to have the same plastic cap, no rubber and no magnet

The website is here http://www.rehak-lov.com/m28-dlouhe-zbrane/i1379-cz-scorpion-evo-3-s1/

And again here

Here are my pictures judge for yourself, and before you try to contact ASG to ask if they will sell you a stock save the electrons they as are CZ are not for moving on the subject I know I tried to order 100 and got FTF with the CEO at SHOT at first he said yes then once they got home it seems they don't need the business. If you do go the ASG route you will need to adjust the retaining hole but other than that it fits straight on

I made an inquiry to an American based company about buying the stock off one of their $450 EVO units.  If anything I could use it as a template and have an actual stock machined out of the material of my choice.

I must not have been the only one that reached out to them, their response more or less was, "No we do not sell the stock separately and we also do not recommend the use of it on a real EVO".

I laughed.   :P

DO NOT PUT A STOCK ON AN EVO S1 WITHOUT A FULLY COMPLETED FORM 1 IN YOUR HAND WITH CURRENT TAX STAMP ON IT.

Thank you for the technical information, but this is academic ONLY< as putting a stock on a Scoprion EVO without the proper tax stamp is equal to about 30 years and $300,000 in fines. BAD juju. In the meantime, it's something to look into, for certain, after getting all the NFA paperwork completed - I wondered how close those things actually were, having seen them at SHOT. No, I have no idea what that stock is.

From what I understand, the stocks are made of the same nylon fibers. Don't see why they wouldn't work.

We have them on some of our SBR's and subjoin conversions they work just fine

Any modification required to get it to fit a real EVO?

Any modification required to get it to fit a real EVO?

Just the dentent button hole needs to be elongated maybe 1/16-1/8" at the bottom thats it I think the original Scorpion had a smaller diameter button

TITAN, regardless if you and everyone else are the most knowledgeable people in the world, I still have to put that out there, or possibly face some ugly questions from ATFE. I've met them professionally many more times than once, and they have no sense of humor. Remember, you're not talking on a street corner, you're in my digital living room. ;)

"about 30 years and $300,000 in fines"

do you have a reference for this statement?

I think you multiplied potential maximum penalties by factory of three; not that 10 years is anything to laugh at.   >:(

Living in Euroland, I obviously have the Eurostock on my EVO, i.e. the versions sans stock cap. And as you stated, it's a spitting image to the ASG stock.
Some question from my side of the pond as I haven't seen the "new" stock overhere:

Going by the pics I saw on the internet, I thought the stock cap was made of rubber, similar to eg the stock caps on a Magpul CTR. Now I read it's some sort of alloy.

The locking/folding part seems to be made of metal (aluminum) iso. plastic. Correct?

Curious minds just want to know.

This looks really very good and functional but it does have the folding mechanism in the adapter. Where do you get one of those? This is also an acceptable alternative to the OEM stock, at least to me.
