Compact Mods Complete
« on: December 15, 2015, 09:25:06 PM »
My 75 Compact has come a long way in a fairly short amount of time. A buddy and I installed a set of SP-01 night sights a few weeks back, LOK Grenade grips came a week or so ago and then last night I was able to get the parts installed from Cajun Gun Works that I got for my birthday a couple weeks back. Between work, deer hunting and trying to get ready for Christmas I haven't had much chance to work on the gun but I finally had some time Sunday afternoon.

From CGW's I picked up the short reset kit with the extended firing pin, reduced power firing pin spring, reduced power firing block pin, blue hammer spring, reduced power trigger spring, floating trigger pin and a couple rubber mag bases. I did my research on the installs - lots of great threads and videos out there to walk you through set by step. Install was a breeze - start to finish took us maybe an hour and 15 minutes. That included some time to pull up a couple videos and watch them to make sure we were on the right track.

Took a few picture along the way...

Parts!

Firing pins, CGW's extended pin on the left

Reference picture before we tore it apart

Sear cage out...

Just another angle...

Short reset arm ready for install - note the pin on the sear cage in the background, we only removed it far enough to get the old arm out and the small spring out. By doing this it made the job very quick and easy.

Back together...

Assembled with a couple venison tenderloins from a second season doe ready for the grill...

I posted these in another thread but if you missed them - here are the new grip (black & gray grenades from LOK Grips)

Whole package...

Range trip planned for this weekend to give it a shake down run and dial in the night sights. I'm really happy the way this thing came together. Just waiting on my Wright Leatherworks Predator holster to show up, I'm about 1/2 way through the waiting period.

Thanks for looking.

Really enjoy the CZ-75 and the Compac. They fit my hands perfect. I guess after finding the CZ line they all fit my hands like they were made for me, especially with the right grips. I have found, for me, the rubber was the best. I even put the rubber on the 97B and it's great too.

I could take the dose of jealousy re: the Compact -- but THEN YOU THROW IN A COUPLE OF TENDERLOINS lightly seasoned in garlic salt after this hunter failed to provide for the freezer this season!  Too cruel; at least I can fill my own Red Solo Cup and drop a few tears into it. . .

Oh, I got side-tracked -- a sweet looking set-up, indeed!  How does it shoot now?

Do tell!

Ha! Sorry Tyerone. We had a tough hunt this year but I managed to put some meat in the freezer the second to last day of the 2nd season. Passed on a couple small ones early in the season and then didn't have another opportunity until this one came by the stand.

I'll keep you posted on how it shoots - headed to the range Friday afternoon for a shakedown run. Should be fun.

Great Fun.  I know you had a blast doing the work.  That's what I like about CZ's :) :) :)

I posted this picture over in the range thread but in case you didn't see it, she'll shoot! I need to make a slight adjustment on the rear sight yet but I'm really liking it.

Beat that rear sight with a big f#*%?g hammer.  O0 or you can drift it with a sight mover or something not as caveman as a BFH. :)

I really like the grip tape on the straps.

Thanks Fireman! I had done the front strap on my Springfield Range Officer earlier this year and liked the way it turned out, had a little left so I thought I'd give it a try on the Compact. Probably wasn't necessary due to the low recoil of these guns anyways but it feels good in hand.

Very nice work.  Looks like a sweet shooter.

For grip tape, I found a dime is a perfect radius for the front strap and a nickel is the perfect radius for the back strap.  I like the look of rounded ends on the tape.
