Kadet feeding problems

NOTE:  I posted this here earlier today but someone moved it to the Kadet Klub topic.  It received no replies at that location.  Perhaps if it is allowed to remain here I can receive some assistance.

            All,

After I got my Kadet conversion kit the first 400 or so rounds fed and fired with no problems whatsoever. Everything worked just fine. Then, all of a sudden, I started having feed problems. The bolt won't strip the second round off the top of the mag. It doesn't seem to matter if I load 10 rounds, eight rounds or as little as five rounds. The first chambers normally, then the second just sits there after the first is fired. Sometimes, if I give the pistol a whack on the bottom after chambering the first round, the second round will feed, but about 40 percent of the time not even that works. Once I get past the second round the rest seem to chamber okay.
CZ-USA replaced the mag but that has made no difference. Clean or dirty seems to make no difference. It's like the mag isn't seating quite high enough in the frame and the bolt is passing over the round without picking it up.
            Any ideas to help?

I was going to suggest the mag, but I see CZ replaced it once for you. Have you tried different ammo?

Suggest you try exerting constant upward pressure with the off-hand to the bottom of the mag while you are shooting. If that cures it, the notches in the mag may be off or may have become oversized---seating the mag too low.
If that fails, you may try to take the mag apart and insert a filler under the spring at the base plate as a home-made method to increase spring tension---you will loose a couple rounds of capacity but it may help.

I would suggest that you depress the slide stop if this happens and see if it is getting partially engaged and the tap disengages it.  I would also pay attention to nose dive onto the bottom of the feedramp insted of up the ramp.  Have you taken your gun apart and made sure everything is in the right place from your last cleaning.  I think the pressure on the mag is a good idea too as I have had that happen when I didn't slam the mag home and hear it click when it locks into position.  Friction from the mag release can still hold the mag in the gun sometimes.  Another suggestion would be to remove the recoil spring assembly, assemble your gun and see if the slide is moving normally with the only significant resistance coming from depressing the hammer.  Without the recoil spring installed you can see if there is a rough spot in the slide travel.  The only other suggestion I would have right now is ammo selection.  Have you been using the same ammo for 400 rounds?  What are you using now?  Some standard and all subsonic HP ammo will probably not blow the slide back far enough to pick up the next round. mapdude

The problems you are having could be from the hard rubber pin the goes into the slide spring.  When I got my KADET kit I noticed that this pin had an arc bent into it from sitting on the shelf for 2 years or so before being sold.  The spring is in compressed mode all that time and the spring wants to escape sideways.

I had a feed problem on full mags and solved it by calling CZ and geting a new straight pin.  Mike replaced it for free.

I think the pin you describe in my 2000 model kit is steel.  mapdude
