Invisible 15 Round RAMI
« on: August 10, 2016, 05:22:21 PM »
I'm so happy with the latest embodiment of my carry holster I thought I'd share it in case anyone sees fit to duplicate it.

It's a CrossBreed SuperTuck modified for 12:00 IWB tucked shirt concealed carry by significantly raising the belt clips (including shortening them) such that all leg interference is eliminated, even when in full squat or riding knee-to-shoulder tuck on my recently resurrected SR500 street bike.

(Right click, choose Open in new tab) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9Nrjk17trvjQ3F5Qm9TUjRVdEVacnJCTk9qT2VOUmZKMVhj

Because it rides so low, and flat to the tummy, there's virtually nothing to "print" or "tent" after pulling the slightest blouse/puff above the belt, so no one ever knows unless I tell them, that I'm out "exercising" (my 2nd Amendment rights).

The dual clips maintain proper elevation, even when running, and I can sit comfortably indefinitely, often forgetting that I'm carrying!  The trimming away of the hammer area assures that my thumb has ready access to the hammer (which it pulls from decocked to SA automatically upon extraction), vs. the masking effect that the original upper contour developed as the leather plate began to cup from belly pressure.

The CZ RAMI's unique combination of 3" barrel and 15 round "extended magazine"capacity with legendary CZ ergonomics, reliability and accuracy make this a truly optimized concealed carry solution, imho.

(Right click, choose Open in new tab) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9Nrjk17trvjbDRhN2VNSGh6SW8

I've shared this with CrossBreed, in hopes they could offer a slightly taller Kydex on the slide side, which would enhance the design vs. waistband drag.

You must not have Dunlap's disease.  Congratulations.  And by the way, I use a Crossbreed QuickClip and love it.

Well, actually I do, a bit (had to look it up): I'm running ~16lbs (2 gallons!!!) over fighting weight.  I have found, however, that this holster helps my posture b/c I tend to stand up straight, chest stuck out a bit, as a means of keeping it totally invisible, contrary to the slouched shoulder posture that tries to encroach as we age.

Does the single clip really keep the pistol vertically immobile?  My only experience with single clip (the Clinger Atom and Stingray Strong Side my son bought me as gifts) is that they make for substantially more belt sag, and carried with substantial elevation above the belt, albeit from near the pistols CG.  Seems like a single, off-to-the-side clip wouldn't be as able to manage elevation. Just thinking...

If you want a single clip holster that has cant and elevation adjustment try the SS or SSR by Ryan Grizzle:- http://www.rgrizzleleather.com/iwb-holsters.html
This is my regular everyday carry holster for my RAMI BD. I do not experience belt sag with the holster. So pleased with it have ordered one for my Sig P938.

It's been almost a year that I've enjoyed this truly optimal setup. Nothing has changed except the "Dunlaps disease" 16 lbs (2 gallons!) has disappeared by virtue of Wifey's ketogenic (high fat, low protein, VERY low carb) cooking over the last 5-6 weeks. I've had to notch in my belts one hole and now all my pants fit again.  To be able to carry 15 rounds in absolute invisibility is something even wifey seems to be proud of.

Let me know if anyone would like me to post 1:1 scale PowerPoint images for scalability/copyability of the 12:00 IWB holster outline. All the "printing" I see out there is sad in light of what's possible with a CZ RAMI BD and a modified Crossbreed IWB holster: tucked shirts raise no suspicions.

Read 'em and weep: CZ delivery lead times have extended to the 6-8 month range. I'm amazed that dealers don't simply place their orders to be able to stock such desireable handguns without turnover delay.

OK will do, Mick-S: stay tuned.

Btw, on a whim while in Amazon Smile I entered "CZ RAMI BD" in the search field and lo there appeared a FoxX IWB holster much like the Crossbreed but with significantly elevated Kydex profile in the trigger guard/grip region, the thing I had appealed to Crossbreed about (to ease holster extraction from such a "low," below the waistband, resting place) but which they politely declined to pursue. The FoxX was only $39.00 so I ordered it.
https://smile.amazon.com/FoxX-Holsters-Waistband-Tuckable-Concealed/dp/B01M6ZXAC4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500774736&sr=8-3&keywords=cz+rami+bd
I'll probably adopt my already-shortened Crossbreed belt clips, which play a big role in bent-leg thigh clearance. The clips are available separately for $5.00 each with free shipping (at least for Qty. 4): https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/shop/holsters/accessories/snaplok-black-sold-in-singles.html I've ordered the two-hole version, in that the upper hole is pretty close to the location I picked for the 1st prototype clips, for use with the FoxX repliica.

OK Mick-S, and whomever else may be interested:
Here's the 1:1 scale printable outline PowerPoint file. The screws center distance should measure 7 3/8" on the printout to match reality.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9Nrjk17trvjZks2R3QzaDdRYnM  (Right Click, Select Download Linked File).
The white layer on the back is T-shirt material over two-sided tape, for comfort. Other fabrics out there would undoubtedly be even better for comfort and absorbency; polypropylene for example.

The PappaWheelie FoxX-based 12:00 IWB custom "Invisible 15 Round RAMI" holster is now birthed, and viewable/copyable via this PowerPoint file:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9Nrjk17trvjWm5KSFVrQWVNXzQ (Right click, open in new tab)
I expect the hammer-region trimming depicted by the dashed line will become necessary due to belly pressure cupping, just as in the case of the original CrossBreed job.
The taller Kydex extends well above the bottom of the waistband (the motive for the effort) but doesn't seem to "fit" the pistol quite as nicely: has a bit of slop when fully "engaged" compared to the more precise "light detent" feel of the CrossBreed in home position.
So far (just over 2 weeks and counting) the FoxX Holster folks haven't responded to my Product Proposal email, so it's appearing that the homebuilt option is going to be the only way to enjoy this optimal carry solution.

October 13, 2017 Update: I heated and re-pressed the Kydex in the vicinity of the slide stop pin's protrusion to be like the CrossBreed and lo it now has the same "click into place" light detent positioning that I liked about the CrossBreed, and the needless extra ~4mm of thickness under the belt (from the added groove) is eliminated. With this mod I'm going to start using the FoxX-based job: I like its backside texture more than that of the CrossBreed, a comfort issue.  The above PowerPoint file has been updated to add a last slide showing this last modification. Given the chance to do it again, I'd hold the holster above the propane flame (a hair dryer wouldn't touch the necessary molding temperature) for a gentler heating process than the "torch above" orientation I used.  The repress force was applied via a washrag folded into thirds twice for a cushy 9-layer pad.

And now FoxX has (finally) responded positively, appreciating the "suggestion on the new model," so perhaps they understand the potency of this configuration for complete concealment of such generous capacity, with "legendary CZ ergonomics, reliability and accuracy," not to mention the TruDot Tritium night sights!  https://imageshack.com/i/pnwR8Fwfj 1751 views prior to now.

The anticipated cupping occurred, so the expected trim cut (to unmask the decocked hammer for reliable extraction access) was employed. The PappaWheelie Invisible 15 Round RAMI 12:00 IWB Custom FoxX-based Holster is herein completed (and fabulous). See photo:

Btw, I have a "carry" mag with slightly rounded corners on the bottom plastic plate to minimize the print/tent visibility when wearing a too-tight T-shirt.

February 22, 2018 Update: 8" Clips Version now posted.
http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=95318.msg732479#msg732479

March 5, 2018 Update 2.0: I've just gone ahead and repunched the (4mm) clip holes higher and wider, (~1/4" NE and ~1/4" NW of the 8" spaced holes) to result in just over 8 1/4" spacing (for even mo' beddah belt loop clearance) and somewhat-increased submersion.  I like it even more and it's still a perfectly easy draw from its can't-be-snatched location.  At 6' 2 1/2" tall, I've still got plenty of space below the tip of the barrel, but smaller proportioned folk might want to stick with the posted layout. This change doesn't expose any of the original holes from under the flange nuts so I'll probably not bother with yet another fresh start.  The flange nuts remain fully inboard of the leather's contour.

The CZ 2075 RAMI BD is:
Comfortable, with best-in-class natural-feeling ergonomics; https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=93502.msg716495#msg716495
Reliable ( reference last paragraph of PRODUCT DESCRIPTION of sibling P-01: http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-01-9mm-black-alloy-14-rd-mags/ ); and,
Accurate https://imageshack.com/i/pnwR8Fwfj
-not to mention TruDot Tritium Night Sights and 15 Rounds capacity in an ultimately concealable Subcompact!  The BD also provides, besides freedom from the under-duress risk of a "forgotten" safety, an elevated yet secure strong thumb resting area between the Decocker and the Slide Release levers, as provided by the (uniquely CZ) internal rails, and "real gun" Single Action.

April 17, 2018 Update: Here are pics of the above (repunched holes) "Final Version:"

May 21 2018 Update: Recontoured PappaWheelie Invisible 15 Round RAMI Holster

Here?s a new PowerPoint file with 1:1 scale backside image that can be cut out like a paper doll and used as a pattern for either a fresh start or the rework of an already-existing FoxX-based custom 12:00 IWB holster.  The lower ?V? profile has been sculpted with large radii to increase thigh clearance, and is thus a bit even more comfortable in full squat mode.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Eq0__V9YnxW4ekdgwX6uZFBb1P--FHlb

Comparing back-to-back profiles, with clip tops aligned, the new scalloped contour gets back to the original thigh clearances of the first two iterations, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9Nrjk17trvjWm5KSFVrQWVNXzQ/view
which had greater barrel exposure below the contour of the leather backplate.

The screw-to-screw centerline dimension is 8-1/4? for purposes of verifying the scale of your printout.

I let blobs of Superglue harden overnight to seal & ?Loctite? the threads from loosening.

Here?s an updated front view: if you look closely you can see that the DPM spring pack protrudes from the front of the frame.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fLQGoL7lycPfxO1dP8PEiR0RQKSnoF6G

I?m grateful to be able to carry, via THE most ergo/comfy pistol of THE world?s best brand, with complete tucked shirt invisibility, 15 rounds of Underwood 9mm +P+ Xtreme Defender ammo without risk of frame damage!
