My 75b let me down?
« on: August 13, 2016, 11:48:33 PM »
Had a match this morning and the weather started out great.
Got to the range and found out I was an RO today.  I got to see everyone shoot and their scores.
On the second stage it started to drizzle 'after' I shot.  By the third stage it was a major downpour.
Some went home.  Most pressed on.  To score,  I had to walk through ankle deep water.  Ammo, pistols, bags and shooters were soaking wet.
On the fourth stage two shooters had FTFeeds.  BOTH were shooting Glocks.  I knew the guys,  so I asked if they were shooting Glocks and how could they have a FTF. O0
On the next stage my 75b had a FTFeed,  and the first one I can remember with no associated problem.  ....  Well the questions came fast.....".yes I'm shooting a CZ.  Must have been crud in a dropped mag.".  That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
Going home in a 75mph speed zone,  the most anyone was doing was about 50 with visibility limited to two cars ahead.
Had to completely change clothes and 'dump' water out of my mags and bag.
It was great.  Had a good time.  Didn't shoot well,  but smiled all the way home;  so my CZ didn't really fail to do it's job.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we often shoot in the rain, and have experienced the kind of rain you describe. That being said, I haven't had water related malfunctions- I use a cart (my sporting clays cart) with a rain cover to keep my gear reasonably dry.

Glad you had a good time. Shooting in inclement weather adds another challenge to the game, a challenge many don't like.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Wow, you could lose a magazine in water like that.  You'd look kind of funny pulling your shoes off to walk around barefoot in the mud trying to "find" a magazine.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

hmmm never had any malfunction in the rain before with my cz's. Maybe carry a gallon of fresh water in the truck/car to rinse off the mags after you pick them up.

Your not running any paste based lube are you?

Lubes are Mobil1 and some MiliTec 1.  When I got home and blew compressed air throughout the pistol,  the lube was still there--everywhere.  .

At this range,  it's almost impossible to get to my truck and return,  especially when  being the RO.

My New Balance shoes are still soaked after being in front of the AC air intake for hours.

Haven't cleaned my mags yet.  I had a lot of mags with me,  but may have accidentally used one that got dropped in crud.😕.

Good choice in lubes thats pretty close to what i run  :) mobile 1 and grease for me. I wonder if coating the mags in a carnauba paste wax would help repel some of the grim from dropping them in the mud.

It's a firearm, if it has never jammed, failed to fire/feed/extract etc., don't worry it will one day.

See, there you go.  Mud will do it.  :o

Not quite a pistol, but interesting. Earlier this year at a night 3Gun match where it was raining good, I had my 930JM jam a shell in the breech. I ripped off the rim of the shell with the extractor trying to get it out.  Finally took a rod to get it, and it was an empty hull... hmm.  Now I have run this gun for years and countless thousands of rounds, and never had that one. Some internet searching found that for those living in wet environments, it is not uncommon. Basically water gets in the gas/recoil system and mucks it up. Short strokes, does not eject shell, and jams it back in the breech.
