My wife is also able to rack the slide on my RAMI using the method Rainsong mentions, but I worry about her using it as a carry pistol ... since having to do it under stress w/ potentially sweaty hands due to adrenaline and panic should be taken into consideration.  Training -- and more training -- is usually the answer ... but I see a Sig P238 or Ruger LCR in her near future.

The RAMI is way too big for my wife to carry, she just used it to qualify for her CCW.  Sig P238 will be her EDC.

Sig P238 is a great choice!  My plans are slightly more diabolical, though.  LOL

The excuse I'm using to purchase the Rami is because it's for her.  It's actually for my CZ collection but I think if she thinks I bought a pistol for her, she'll be excited about getting a membership at the range, sign-up for the training classes and rent a few other guns to try out in the process.  The idea being that she'll like something different and I'll get my Rami back.  Evil, huh?  I'd like to get her a Glock 43 or a Sig P238 but, I'll buy her whatever she wants within reason.  My main goal is to get her shooting regularly at an awesome facility with a qualified instructor.

I can definitely relate.  RAMI is def too big for my wife regardless of the ease (or lack thereof) of racking the slide ... so the pistol I "intended" to buy for her will just be part of my rotation.  Oh well ...

I think your plan is sound.
My wife doesn't shoot, but I buy her guns anyway.

I think this is called the Marge Simpson Bowling Ball gift plan.  It will surely backfire on you.

Oh, good, so I'm not the only one!  LOL

We have been together almost 20 years.  I know how she is.  Plus, unlike Marge, my wife is actually interested in shooting but, it's gotta be 'fun' for her and not all business.  That's why I think it'll work.  She'll take the training classes with other women, see what they're shooting, use her two free weekly rentals to try other things and eventually come home with something she likes better.  She won't trade or sell the Rami because it was a gift from her husband.  The only thing that could possibly go 'wrong' is if she likes the Rami.  LOL

You might be in trouble here.  I love my Rami and would never give it up.  Fortunately, my husband has his own so there's no haggling over it!

And therein lies the crux of the biscuit...my wife has a Rami and a P238.  The Rami was too large for her to comfortably conceal carry so she went with the P238 for that.  Because of the larger grip size, she shoots the Rami much better than the smaller grip on the P238.  Both are very fine pistols and she enjoys both of them equally.
