Yes, I polished all the internals, including the inside of the frame, the sear cage, sear, trigger bar, trigger surfaces, hammer strut, hammer surfaces, firing pin, sear and hammer pivot pins, disconnector, inside of my mainspring, barrel throat, slide rails, etc. I do a dress with 2000 grit and then a final with 7000 grit, for a baby-smooth surface polish. This includes even the aftermarket parts I received for the upgrades.
All the usual odd hitches, stumbles and burbles in the double action stroke are completely gone. The double action is silky smooth and consistent, with no stacking at the end of the travel. There is not a hint of creep or camming in the clean, crisp single action. The difference is huge. I am also a really big fan of the extra leverage that the CZ97 thick trigger gives me, with absolutely no "pinching" of my fingertip the way the stock recurve trigger pinches my finger behind it while I'm rapid-firing. I took some time and polished the sides, forward edges, and face of that 97 trigger until it was super-smooth, too. The wood grips I prefer are the correct size and shape to position my hand so that my trigger finger falls in the right spot on the trigger when I draw the gun, and the checkering is just enough to add grip without snagging on clothing or irritating skin while carrying. I buy the grips in the raw with just a light surface oil rubbed finish on them, and then I add a few coats of tung oil to them over a two-day period for waterproofing and durability, and to seal the grain, so I don't get cracks or splits. Makes 'em tough, durable AND attractive.
I really like the beavertail on this particular Compact. It's the perfect size and shape, and very comfy! The gun is really not much heavier than the standard steel-frame CZ75C compact. This may have become my favorite compact CZ ever. I also just added the 5.5mm x 3.1mm front tritium night sight to this SP-01 compact, which I had removed from my Shadow Tac II last month when I converted that gun to fiber optic. It is now the perfect carry piece, that you can also throw a light on in the evening for night-time home defense duty....!
