Forum Christmas Giveaway - Pistol Decision... with a Twist
« on: January 12, 2017, 01:06:11 AM »
So as many of you know I was the fortunate member who won this year?s CZ USA pistol from the forum Christmas Giveaway.  I couldn't believe it then and still can't believe it now.  Many thanks to this forum, its members that make this place the best forum on the net, and CZ USA for their support (and great customer service)!

So as you recall I had a CZoice of pistol between the P07, P09, and P10C.  For many of you that would be an easy selection.  The P10C is getting rave reviews and I would get one of the first production pistols entering the country.  I deliberated over this for some time over the holiday break.  I don't own any striker fired pistols and don't really have any desire to either.  The striker fired guns I've fired didn't impress in neither trigger quality nor accuracy.  That said, how could I really pass up on this opportunity!?  And it?s a CZ so it is going to be a tack driver right!

A little history about my pistol shooting needs.  I've been shooting at local USPSA "like" fun shoot matches for a couple of years now and mostly was shooting my 97BD in limited 10 with a little shooting every now and then with my 9mm SP01 Tactical.  Our matches are all volunteer run and we have not been a USPSA club for years.  Recently we have had more interest in turning our club back into a USPSA club again.  One thing that will enable our return to USPSA is the building of an indoor range that we could use to run matches in during the winter months (yes it snows in AZ).  While I love my 97BD, it really is a "limited 10" gun.  Since our club was going to ramp up and turn back into a USPSA affiliated club, I wanted to upgrade to a true limited rig for competition.

I contemplated building a custom long slide on a decocker frame (decockers are all I own) but there is still the challenge of capacity.  With a standard 75 frame you?re limited to 12+1 in 40 S&W and Maybe 15+1 with extended base pads.  Then you still need the upper modified to fit a standard 75 frame, an action job, grips, sights, etc?  It adds up pretty quick and there still is the issue of capacity.  I wanted a true limited rig which means more capacity.  That moved me to start looking at the large frame TS pistols.

My search led me to one gun.  After reading all about it and watching reviews online I finally concluded that the CZ 75 TS Orange in 40 S&W is what I wanted.  I started saving my pennies and finally got the thumbs up from my better half.  So I started looking for the gun and have been trying to find a TS Orange for months now.  I should have known but I didn't expect this gun to be so difficult to find.  I have searched high and low for it and came up dry.  Nothing, Nada, Zip.  I just assumed that they were not available and was just going wait for notification from one of the many vendors I contacted to put me on a waiting list.

Back to my dilemma on what firearm to choose, should I get the P10C?  Then I had a moment of brilliance, I could ask CZ USA for a credit (value of the P10C) toward the price of a TS Orange in 40 S&W.  I figured I would just wait until the next shipment arrived and I would get one when it became available.  I was willing to wait months for one.  If they said no then I would just pick up the P10C in FDE.

Mr. Armored was gracious enough to send my request on to CZ USA.  To my surprise they accepted my request (super great customer service)!  Then CZ USA got back to me and stated they had one is stock!  It would ship as soon as I could send them my FFL info.  I was shocked as I thought this firearm was unobtainable.  Well it turns out they just received a shipment of the gun I?ve been waiting months to find.  It was a serendipitous union of fortune, fate, luck, and desire!

So now I?m impatiently waiting for my TS Orange in 40 S&W to arrive.  CZ USA hasn?t been able to ship it due to issues with their website/system (back up this morning).  I?m hoping they shipped it today and I can pick it up this weekend!  I?m not complaining but bleep this is really testing my patience!  Photos will get posted once I?ve got the pistol in hand.  Sorry for the long winded post!  I just need to fill the time so I don't go crazy in anticipation!

Thanks again to this forum and its members, CZ USA, Mr. and Mrs. Armored (especially Mrs. Armored for pulling my name out of the hat)!

Cheers,
Toby

Good on CZ for giving you that credit to use towards the TS.  Maybe next Christmas CZ will put a Shadow 2 in the hat for us!  O0

Flagstaff was my answer before I looked at your link. During my truck driving years I passed through Flagstaff regularly. Glad that CZ-USA was able to honor your request. Congrats being the winner of the Christmas Giveaway.

Mr & Mrs A-man -

Is there perhaps a codicil in the Original CZ Forum Christmas Hat-O-Plenty give-away rules which would allow me to return the P-07 I won several years ago and trade it for the as-yet unclaimed P-10C ??

It's not that I'm ungrateful, or even like striker-fired handguns, but the P-10C is very, very attractive. And since Toby is obviously not going to take ownership... it's only right that someone from this address give it a good home.

I'm only thinking what's good for the Forum.

tdogg,  that was a great idea!!!

We still.expect a "comprehensive" report on the Orange.  We need to add a green with envy emoticon in the selection box above.

I won the gun give away last year and CZ-USA was more than happy to credit my win toward a Scorpion.
I was so happy I ran out and bought a CZ 1911!
See how that works? ;D

CZ-USA as a company really rocks with the customer service in my humble opinion. As for credit, Mrs A does all the work pulling the names, I just do everything else. ;)

Wow!  You found one of the unicorns!!  Welcome to the TSO club!  You will be beyond impressed.  Prepare to spend half the cost of the gun on ammo to feed it!
