In case you missed it, on Tuesday voters in San Fran (or the new Sodom on the Bay) voted to ban sale and ownership of handguns. It will be challenged because The People's Republic of Kalifornia states that it is up to them to make firearm laws. This could have a huge impact on the rest of us. Years ago Philadelphia tried to ban certain guns. I was not into shooting at the time, but from news reports, I remember that SKSs were on the banned list. That was (thankfully) over-turned, but the mayor just this past summer said he wants to be able to make gun laws for the city seperate from the state. The Republican controlled state senate didn't go for it, and were able to put pressure on the liberal govenor (who wants to limit gun purchases to one a month) to go along with them.  If this S.F. thing goes through, I can see other cities trying to pull the same crap.

It's hard to believe that people would be stupid enough to voluntarily just say "OK Government, take away my ability to defend myself." California is even loonier than I thought.

This should and likely will get overturned in court, and the NRA has already filed the suit. But it is so scary that people could be so stupid. I'm happy to live in gun friendly Florida, and I hope for better times for our fellow gun supporters who are stuck by circumstance or whatever and have to live in this nuttiest of all states.

Everyone needs to think real hard about this latest example of what the gun grabbing left is capable of. If they can do it in one city, they'll try it again. Please join the NRA, or GOA, or both. There are 70 million or so gun owners in the U.S. and maybe 5 million members between those two pro-gun organizations. Give 'em your 30 bucks a year, it will be money well spent

Nope!  Firearms ownership, and handguns in particular, are legal to own, provided they are registered with the City of Chicago.  Therein lies the Catch!  No Registrations for the General Populace have been accepted since the early 1960's.  Fines and Punishments for possessing an unregistered Firearm vary depending upon the circumstances of the infraction of the City Code.  Somehow, His Royal Majesty Mayor Daley's Bodyguards, all get their Registration/Permits. :evil

Hey, I'm moving from New York City to Miami, and it's just night and day... I already have my CCW for Florida from attending a class, getting printed, and waiting for like six weeks!  In New York City I'd have to... hmm, let's see... be on the receiving end of some death threats... wait for my permit to be processed...  die... then get my application denied.

Don't get me started on New York! The other day I was cut-off in trafic by a car with NY plates. I figured they were either 1) running from the cops with a dead prostitute in the trunk, 2) on crack, or 3) the driver was actually just a large man-sized sewer rat.

Trust me when I say that as soon as I am done with school I will be looking for employment OUTSIDE of California.

Especially after seeing so many propositions that I voted for get crushed, I realize I am out of my element.
