Purchased a new RAMI, looks used. Do they normally come looking like this?

Hi Guys, need some help.  This doesn't look normal at all to me.  Purchased this gun on GB on 3/24/18, the test target has a date only five weeks earlier from 2-14-18.  This think looks like it's seen many years of hard use without using any lube.  This is my first CZ purchase, I am normally a SIG guy, but I fell in love with the RAMI the moment I saw it.  I wanted to shoot it so bad today, but decided not to after wiping it down and looking at it.  I really wish I had done that at the FFL and declined to pick it up.  Do this things normally come from the factory with smilies on the barrel and severe rail wear?

I recently purchased the RAMI after selling mine last year. It's just a great feeling gun and very accurate. I also owned a PCR and later had it customized by Cajun Gun Works.

To your question, yes, they do not look like the quality finish that my Sig pistols have out of the box. It's unfortunate, but I have had to spend time polishing the internals to smooth out the slide resistance and trigger pull. Not a lot of effort but they should be better fine tuned before leaving the factory.

I did see your photos but unless you are the one holding the parts it's hard to get a real understanding of the machine mark on the metal. Some Flitz, a Dremel, and a little time will do wonders. Best!

just pulled my rami out of the safe and yanked the slide off. And yes, the interior portions of the frame, at the slide rails, are almost two tone from the factory. portions of it look almost as though there was over-spray of black paint. (althought, of course , not black paint)  Hard to tell from your pics as to the slide wear. Not to worry. clean and oil and enjoy.

I can tell a couple of things by looking at your pictures...1)  It was definitely manufactured in 2018 (the 18 on the front, right hand side of the slide tells that story).  2)  The barrel wear does not indicate any significant use (the oxide coating on the barrel will start to lighten significantly within about 100 rounds or so and that barrel looks about the same as both of mine did when new).  CZ, in the past, was known adding a few extra tool marks on the slide interior, especially on the RAMIs, so it's really hard to tell based on the pictures if that's what that is .  My verdict, assuming all serial numbers match, is that whatever wear you are seeing (aside from some obvious tool marks I see) came from the factory, during test shots fired.  Of course, it's impossible to judge whether this gun has been mildly used based on what I'm seeing, but it most definitely has not been used hard for years.  Hope that helps.

Maybe more than 5 test fire shots were required for the factory to verify all good/tuned.  Recommend contacting cz usa and registering for new purchase warranty to ensure someone already didn't.  Unlike most other of my guns, it took a while, including return to CZ before it got to the current state of confidentally protecting my life.  Heckovan accurate shooter as well!

I ALWAYS question the veracity of anyone selling on Go Broker, private party and dealer alike. Chances are, before you took delivery, someone up the line took it to the range and popped off a few rounds - or a few hundred ? and tossed it back in the box and declared it ?new.? That?s why I would NEVER buy a gun off Going Broker. You never know what a "new" gun has gone through before it gets sold off by some rinky dink seller. Better to buy from an established distributor, even if you have to pay a little more.

That said, CZ pistols are known for being left unfinished with rough tool marks on the inside. They also come from the factory packed in cosmoline (as it appears on the slide) so I would soak the field stripped pistol in a bucket of Hoppes #9 to get it all that out and clean it thoroughly before shooting.

Yeah, looking at your pics, that looks like it was fired (dirty) and un-lubed a lot more than just 5 rounds  at the factory.  Cosmoline is not an adequate gun lube -- for a brand new gun of the recent manufacture the cosmoline should still be pretty greasy and fluid - this looks like it got baked on solid by the heat of firing.

I'd clean it well and shoot it.

Got it from Frontline Arms, very good reviews on GB, super friendly and nice.  Called me to let me know day it shipped, again personal phone call a day or two later to let me know its arrival. 

Gun was pretty dry when I got it, not drenched in cosomoline, also not in a bag, not sure if they normally are.

The marks appear to be wear, not tool marks, it's streaks.  My working theory is they wiped it dry to display in shop and it had small burrs on the slide and or frame and customers and employees racking it a bunch caused the marks/wear.  Looks like a gun shot without lube, but there was little to no residues in the hard to reach spots.  The little black flecks are overspray from frame finish.

Hard to believe it left factory looking like this.

Frontline Arms? In Pickens, SC?

Well, if that's the place (and they do advertise extensively on gun broker), in spite of the glitzy website, the glowing reviews (likely shills), if you google the location at 2573 Gentry Memorial Hwy., it's basically a jack-legged gun & pawn run out of an old block & metal building with some sheds and trailers parked along blacktop hwy. in the middle of the country. They probably took your gun, shot the bleep out of it for kicks out the back door and then stuck it back in the box and called it "new."

Every new gun I've gotten from CZ has come from the factory literally dripping and packed with fresh cosmoline (and no wear to speak of). CZs are known for that. You can pretty much guarantee that your pistol didn't leave CZ in the shape it's in now.

This is pretty much an object lesson on why I would never buy a "new" gun on go broker. I would stick to established, reputable distributors, like Buds, J&G Sales, Atlantic Firearms, KVAR, CZ Custom, etc.

Well, that sucks.

Sometimes that's the go broker seller's deal: they get new guns to play with and bugger up and then when they're done, they box them up and sell them as "new" to the unsuspecting. This happens quite frequently on Gun Broker, along with even worse frauds.

It's a pain in the ass to deal with, but you might contact the seller and demand a full refund / return. I would not accept a "new" gun in that condition. At the very least, I would contact Gun Broker and let them know what happened (not sure what that would accomplish) and write up Frontline Arms with a bad review.
