Bought a Glock 43 first with the Crimson Trace red laser. Too dang small. The laser bit my finger. And, worse, couldn't hit anything with it. But it is small. It's there up close and personal: all six shots. Removed and stored the CT laser. Bought an adapter plate and mounted a Vortex Venom red dot on the rear dovetail for fun. Added a Hogue rubber grip sleeve to hold onto the thing better. Marginally nicer to shoot now. Not my favorite.
Bought a P10C. Great price. Great shooter. I hit what I aimed at, especially after installing the CZ fiber optic front sight. Very aggressive texture on the grip, though. Almost too aggressive. Wife really likes to shoot it. Thought it was the .22. Very little flip. Ambi mag release is hard to press.
Then bought an HK VP9SK with the paddle mag release and tritium night sights. What a great gun. Perhaps my best shooter without any modification. Easy to carry, comfortable to hold and shoot. Full ambi controls. I like the paddle release. Tiny bit slower, but I don't shoot competition, and it cannot accidentally release the mag. (See PPQ22 experience below.)
I carry these striker guns without a round in the chamber. Just too easy to pull the trigger. (The dancing/backflipping FBI agent who accidentally shot a bystander comes to mind.) So to get them into action, I must jack the slide. I practice the move at the range.
Then bought a Walther PPQ .22. Wanted an intro pistol for newbies who've never shot, but has the grip and feel of a full 9mm or larger. The PPQ .22 is REALLY comfortable to hold. Great ergonomics. As it's an M2 model, it has the giant mag release button under the thumb and a very light spring under that button. For whatever reason, the way I hold the pistol, I hit that mag release button three times, dropping the mag out of complete insertion. Somehow, my right thumb depressed the mag button enough to let the mag slip out 1/4". Weird. Don't know if this happens with the 9mm PPQ M2. The .22 is shaped like a PPQ, but doesn't fully function like one, so there's probably a difference. Still, I love that PPQ22. Shoots like a dream. Great to get kids and women comfortable with shooting. Very light recoil and minimal noise.
Then bought a CZ 75 D Compact PCR with its decocker and no safety. Purposely wanted the hard-DA-easy-SA trigger for increased safety while carrying. Hopefully, no twitchy finger unexpected releases. Adding Truglo TFX Pro sights. The wimpy glow sights it comes with are pitiful. They aren't tritium; they fade rapidly, leaving three tiny white dots. Not the best. Plan to carry this with one in the chamber, hammer at half cock. A bit heavy overall with its alloy frame. I like the PCR a lot, though that first DA shot is almost always off target by a couple inches. Will need a lot of practice to master. And the second shot is almost a double tap because you're expecting the same trigger pressure, and it's so much lighter.
Finally, ordered a Walther P99C striker, with decocker and "Anti-Stress" trigger. Lighter weight due to polymer frame, Walther ergonomics, ambi paddle mag release, striker decocker leading to a DA first shot. This also gives me a more difficult first trigger pull to help avoid accidental discharge. But will probably fire the second lighter-pull shot almost automatically.
I realize it's all the rage for Glock-style cocked-and-unlocked carrying of the P10C, the VP9SK, the PPQ and a host of others. But a light trigger with one in the chamber makes me nervous.
It's why CZ came up with the PCR: Police Czech Republic. Their police wanted a harder first pull under stress situations.
But to answer your question: I love the feel of the PPQ.
