Title: DWX prices and availability
Post by: Rigidman on November 03, 2019, 07:49:45 PM
I didn't go through the whole thread yet, got to go back and read it through. Was searching for CZs and found the DWX for $1500ish. Not sure if they actually had them for sale yet, if it was a tease. Think it was the compact version.

Actually spaced it off till I saw this thread. It was some online gun sales site. So fingers crossed. Will read thread from start to finish. Sorry if I stole someone's thunder.

No need to read through the entire thread, most of these deals expire. Also, the DWX won't actually hit the market until sometime next year. . .we hope.

That's what I thought but it was there, with a price tag. I'll go back through my history and bookmarks. Will post it no matter what it is. I looked at it drooling, mouth agape. Saying crap, crap, crap, because it's out of my price range.

Ok I found it. Completely by accident.

I have no idea why it's listed already. Nice price.

"Out of Stock"

So how many of you have your deposits in? Are you getting FS or compact? Read a post in the DWX thread about availability of improvement parts. Wonder if like most things, once it becomes popular that there will be more available for the DIYer.

It appears the guns share parts with CZ as well as 1911's so there are already some parts available. At the price point these guns will hit the shelves at I would hope they don't need much improvement. My 3 Dan Wesson 1911's are the only 1911's of many I've owned that didn't come out of the box in need of something.

Yes, but it also says that there are proprietary parts specifically made to be unique to the DWX.

I haven't seen anything for an expected release date yet.  Where did you get the May timeframe from?  I have my dealer on alert to get one if as soon as they become available from one of his distributors.

A FS in 9mm would be sweet but I don't compete so too much money for a range toy for me.

I love CZ75 Compact, I love 1911, I'm lefty.... Looks Dan Wesson has listened my prayer  ;D

Do you know if this is the estimate for all models or just FS .40?
I preordered a 9mm compact w/ rail through CZ first responder program just today. May seems so far away.

The May time estimate was provided before I ordered. That may mean all are shipping at the same time, but I don't have confirmation on all of the variants.

The last update pushed it to June, but that was before the full covid hit. I think I posted that in one of the discussions here.

Sooo is there actually a available date for the DWX? I am about to pull the trigger on a new gun and would love the next to be the DWX but can't find ANY info on WHEN. Currently own a Specialist 45acp Duty Finish and am awaiting delivery of a Pointman 45 on Monday. Love the DW products but it looks like a CZ AccuShadow 2 is going to be next up. Shooting USPSA Single Stack and want to move into Open and try out IDPA so I've been looking around for a new Competition Gun. Any suggestions on alternative firearms would be appreciated.

According to online reports, the NYSSR is one of the states which completely shut down gun shops and manufacturers. That will put them at least a month or two behind schedule.

Comparing to cost of WC EDC X9... fair price for me. Not mentioning other high quality 1911 style handguns.

However I feel discriminated a little.. why I'm able to choose from hundreds of 1911 models which fit right handed shooter, but have only few option for lefties and have to pay $3,000 or more...  :'(
And I'm talking about one small piece only - release button on other side...  :-X

No kidding. I was really excited about the EDC X9 when it was announced, but my interest in it died when I found that Wilson couldn't even bother to design a reversible mag catch. The fact that the DWX is actually lefty-friendly, and the fact that it's half the price of the Wilson is awesome - still a pretty expensive gun, but probably worth it.

No ... I don't want and I won't spend $3K :D
So far my Rock Island 1911 works great, however sometimes my thumb is searching for the button  ;D

I'm hoping to have DWX-C... so my dreams end up below $2,000  ::)

I was looking for reversible mag release button for 1911, but all manufacturers dropped this idea few years ago.
Cabot Guns makes 1911 for lefties... but 45ACP only, 10 months waiting time and $5K  :-X - end of the story....
Wilson Combat would be my choice, EDC X9 has perfect ergonomics and mag release button on regular side works quite good... but price is too high.
CZ75 Family seems to be natural path to have 100% left handed handgun which is close to 1911... and now DWX is the ideal option for me. And I'm willing to pay this price for it.

They are nice but super pricey! The first responder discount on the DWX makes it very attractive. I’m also hoping that the glut of TSO’s in .40 and the release of the DWX might drive price of TSO down.

How much is their pricing with their Mil/LE/First responder discount? I already have a TSO and Czechmate so the DWX is a nice addition for competition.

Don’t worry. I’m retired military and already have an account with them. They have a copy of my retired military ID and other pertinent info. However, I heard they revamped their website and have not logged in since 2018.

I guess I have to log in and get a new password.

Wow! Is that USD or Either Canadian or Aussie dollars? If that’s USD, that’s the Czechmate pricing territory but you’ll get more (2 barrels, red dot, big stick to name a few).

Either way, yeah it’s expensive.

I don't know what they will sell for here but they are super pricey on the new TS2, starting at $2250 on up to $3385...

Wow! Is that USD or Either Canadian or Aussie dollars? If that’s USD, that’s the Czechmate pricing territory but you’ll get more (2 barrels, red dot, big stick to name a few).

Either way, yeah it’s expensive.

That was a conversion from Euros to USD...

The price will go down a bit if the Shadow 2 OR is an indicator. It was priced higher in Europe compared to the US market price.

It's coming to FFL on Tuesday. New IL law doesn't allows me to do all paperwork before it arrives, so my guess is I'll have to wait another 3 days once my background check passes.

What DW site? You can't order guns directly from DW, or most US manufacturers really, as a retail customer. The DWX is not shipping yet, though there is hope it will be later this year.

EDIT - As a reference here is the Dan Wesson website = https://danwessonfirearms.com/

they list the discontinued 715 (last produced in 2019 and fully sold out before the year's production began), their website has no phone number, no actual mailing address and their "contact us" page opens a map of San Diego. I'm going to say "probably not a real Dan Wesson company store".

I’ll never own any gun made by STI/Staccato. For the price they charge, I’d rather have one custom made by reputable gun smiths.

There’s a reason they change their name.

Yes, they make more expensive versions... but it seems to be a common practice for every manufacturer....

You need to go to a competition shooters forum like the Enos forum so you can read up on STI/Staccato warranty service.

By the way, as long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters. Hopefully it’ll last awhile without the slide cracking  O0.

Interesting feedback.
I've never looked into a custom smith to build a double stacked 9mm. Not sure what that would cost.

I heard they changed their name because they have shifted from custom competition guns to duty guns.
With the custom guns people run their guns extremely hard (100k+ rounds), customize them like crazy and it made warranty a large undertaking.

Nevertheless, I've had the opportunity to handle and shoot a Staccato P Duo. I love the gun. Super accurate. Fit and finish is awesome. It does make me wonder what a custom smith would produce as it's hard for me what I'd get for the same price. But then I've never researched what $2400 will get me.

Yes, I know... but I'm not competition shooter. These are my a defensive tools.
As Underwhere mentioned - STI was more competition firearm company. Staccato focuses on duty pistols.
So far guys from U.S Marshal SOG don't complain on the firearm's quality. I'm counting on their words.  :)

I know, right?  First world problems (https://www.LinxNet.com/misc/smilies/lol.gif)

Hopefully you are patient enough....
Problem there is, with nothing coming out of CZ/DW even hinting at a possible availability time-frame, I've no idea how patient I'll have to be.

I went through something similar after the EOTech thing.  After sending my EOTech optics back I waited and waited and waited and waited for Vortex to get their new holographic site to market.  When they finally did it was, to me, a massive disappointment.  I'm disinclined to fall into that trap again.

... otherwise go with 2011. You can replace a grip module for a red one.  ;)
Heh. Not certain what I'm going to do at this point.

I may just talk to my local "1911 guy," ask him "If you were going to build a 1911 race gun on a budget, what would you start with?"  Get that, have him tune it, add extended controls, and a Stan Chen mag well funnel.

Or get a CZ TS 2 and replace the blue grip panels with red ones :)

I just read what they added to the DW website. When they say they are halting promotion of the DWX I think that's all we need to know to understand that the project is likely dead. I have to think there was/is some serious flaw that they have been unable to overcome and have given up. Many new products have come to market even with the obstacles created by the plandemic so what else could it be?

DW has trimmed down their line significantly from what it was just a few months ago. All of the Vigil series are gone, which is another head-scratcher, since my understanding is that they were pretty popular. Although it reinforces my working theory that they are pushing DW to be the higher-end 1911 manufacturer in the overall lineup by dropping their less expensive models, and positioning Colt to be the go-to 1911 maker in the $800-$1200 range.
Title: Re: DWX prices and availability
Post by: Claymore504 on February 18, 2022, 08:50:55 AM
I am guessing that some restructuring is going on for sure. I think that would be a good move making DW 1911s the higher end and offering Colt at a lower price range. I hope CZ gets back to that small company personal fell though. That is one of the things that drew me to them. They already wiped out thier LE/MIL program from what it was. They just don't need to lose focus on thier great customer service.

Hoping the DWX being dropped is just for a while and they will improve the design until re-release. Adding an optics cut would be a big plus. Found a few posts on a 1911 forum from people saying they have sources at CZ and this is just part of the restructuring process. People are saying they expected DW quality to improve the Colt name, but some are worried that Colt execs are in control and will bring down DW quality. I honestly do not see that happening. DW has built a trust worthy name and is known for quality. Even those that do not prefer a DW 1911 will always state they are high quality. Even saw a Wilson Combat video with Bill Wilson saying in that proce range a DW should be the number 1 choice.

If anyone is looking for a DWX compact check KYGUNCO.  They have it at $1805 which is the cheapest I've seen for the compact so far. I've got my order in and should receive it Wednesday.

I just looked at the site and I wouldn't do any business with them over the net after reading the reviews.

I've purchased from KYGUNCO several times and have never had a problem with them, but to each their own.

Just picked up my new DW DWX today.  Beautiful pistol.

Ordered from KYGUNCO on August 4, and picked up today August 9.  Fast shipping and excellent service from KYGUNCO.

I am waiting on the railed version. I have the DWX full size and have already tuned the trigger from 4lb 6oz to a 2lb 6oz trigger pull.

For anyone still looking for the DWX full size, I just got a back in stock email that I no longer need because I've already purchased one.  It's a great price on a fantastic pistol.

Just passing it on...https://oakhillguns.com/dan-wesson-dwx-9mm.html

It appears the DWX is becoming more available. I should have waited a few weeks before purchasing mine. I could have saved a few hundred, but I did not know if I would get the chance to get one at 2k anytime soon.

If saving money is the object, then yes, wait for the initial rush before you buy a new firearm offering.

But just think of all of the enjoyment you would have missed out if you had waited weeks or even months before making the purchase. Sometimes it is just best to bite the bullet and make the purchase, within reason of course.

I will sometimes do that on a brand new firearm offering, but I refuse to go over MSRP.  All of the people with money to throw away can buy from Gunbroker as much as they want, but MSRP is my limit, and even then you can offset that by buying from places that offer free/reduced shipping cost and those that don't collect sales tax.

I waited about 7 or 8 months for them to ship again but I agree with you, rbuzz00, I am not paying over MSRP. There was several on gunbroker for as much as twice the MSRP!

I paid just under MSRP, $1930 and shipping was free. LGS took care of transfer and I didn't have to pay the fee if I bought $100 worth of merch so I bought a few mags for the DWX and the Berettas I own.

I sure enjoy shooting mine! I was at the range yesterday and I may try out a new indoor range later this week. It's pretty bleep hot down here in South Central Texas so by 1PM I am ready to get out of the heat.

This target from yesterday was at 7 yds. I probably spend about half my time at the 15 yd line now which is definitely helping with my accuracy.

Just passing this along if anyone is still on the hunt for a DWX full size.  I already have the DWX full size and the compact so I no longer need it.  I've purchased from them several times and they are good to go. Free shipping and no CC charges.
