Problems with newish P01 Omega
« on: February 14, 2019, 03:05:16 PM »
Recently bought a pristine like new but used P01 Omega. Date on target is 08/08/2018, so it?s quite new.

It may have had MAYBE 100 rounds through it. It was spotless. I myself have put 150 rounds through it.

Biggest issue is with single action trigger. Usually works fine but there are moments when pressing the trigger all the way to the rear (cannot move it further, it?s the end of travel) the hammer will not immediately fall. It will however fall a fraction of a second or a full second after having depressed it fully. This is rare and happens mostly when moving the trigger to the rear very slowly. The break is at the very very end of possible travel anyways.

Trigger break in both double action and single action are very very hard to feel. Very mushy, very creepy, then again I am used to a 1911.
It?s very disconcerting because the gun does not go off when I want it to. But will a fraction of a second after.  it?s like a delay.
No good for CCW/carry.
This can sometimes be duplicated in dry fire...
The rental P01 Omega has a more clearly defined break in both single and double action. Range/gun shop guys checked mine out and did find it more mushy.

Also experiencing failure to feed from an aggressive reload or double feed halfway through either magazine. A round  noses up very aggressively and misses the chamber. This is also totally random, and quite rare. Seemed worse with 115gr ball, but it happened with 3 diff types of ammo.

Been using ONLY Quality factory ammo, either 115/124 ball, or 124 JHP and 124+P JHP.
Mags are standard 14rnd factory rounders and in good shape. Floor plates are good.

CZ USA said they?d take it in to check it, so I?m waiting for my return shipping label.

I would love some insight, please!
Thanks!

It sounds like it needs a trip back to CZ ASAP.

Sounds like the overtravel screw is in too far. Try backing it out an 1/8 of a turn then trying it. You may have to do this a couple of times.
If it doesn't stay put then you may need to re locktite it. See pick below.

Can't help with the Failure to feed issues but I would run 200-300 more rounds thru it before I sent it back.

Mick-S, did your P01 come from the factory with the adjustable trigger?  Neither of my P01 Omega's have that feature.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

As far as I know it did. I purchased it from CGW already upgraded but there is no trigger in the extra parts bag that came with it and they don't show a replacement trigger in the omega kits.

CGW does list this trigger for sale calling it a new style P-09 trigger. I think CZ may have just started shipping with these. I have only had mine since the first of November but my target date is 2/8/18.

See above updated post.
Until now I just assumed they all had the adjustable trigger. I don't know. This was my first omega pistol. Everything else I have is non omega.

Spitfire,
If you don't have the adjustable trigger then i'm sorry but my post won't help.  :(

Returning the gun to CZ is the best course of action. They will take care of it.

Thanks a lot for the insight!
So far, a call to CZ had a rep tell
me to fill out a warranty claim online. I?m now waiting, haven?t received anything back yet.

Hiya, squeaky wheel gets the grease spitfire007, scratching my head as to why the new approach to customer service at cz usa has taken the HMO model to deliver service. I thought I outlined ,altho few years back, experiences.ie. Talk to rep to direct call, talk to smith in order to triage properly the issue and work order plan, take brief gun and customer info, while on phone with customer, explained that they pay for shipping to them and that they can check email in few minutes and instructions to print as needed. Can a multi billion dollar business really be sitting down to unstreamline customer support and think its the right thing to do. End rant.
Hate to see things digress for ya but make your toll free call, remember names of folks ya speak to and you are in your right to ask to speak to next level mgt ad infinitum. The sun should not have gone down without you being offered a shipping slip ,once you offered your claim. This first effort needs to be your best. As I would never give them a second chance to fix the original issue. Cheers, Be well.

First of all he's extremely lucky that CZ supports their customers as they do as the warranty clearly states that said warranty is to the ORIGINAL purchaser so it's awesome that they are willing to do a warranty claim for him on a second hand gun.
They still will take info over the phone and email labels right away it just depends on how busy the are. I don't think CZ service has degenerated in any way. They are busy and also working on getting an manufacturing facility up and running in this country will only serve to make things better for all involved.

I agree I?m very lucky they even said ?we?ll take that gun in?.

I wouldn?t have bothered to call if the gun wasn?t an August ?18 production and so new. Hardly any wear.

If I can?t get it squared away with CZ, I?ll just ship it to CGW to have them work their magic, though I?m hesitant to alter anything for a CCW/daily carry/Home defense pistol.

Of the many CZ's I own/have owned I needed to ship 2 guns back to CZ-USA and both times they took care of the issues properly and on the first attempt. Wish I could heap the same praise on Walther and Smith&Wesson.

I had a night sight go out in an Omega P01 a few months after I bought it.  I contacted CZ through their website (CZ-USA).  A few hours later I got a reply e-mail with a return authorization page (barcode label/address, etc).  I printed it up, took the slide to fedex, put it in a box, applied the label and handed the box to the guy behind the counter.  I got it back about 10 days later even though fedex "lost" the box/slide for about 3 days up in Maryland somewhere.

That's my only experience with CZ customer service.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

UPDATE

After 3.5 weeks or so, I just got an automated email from CZ USA.

Under work performed, it says ?replacement serial number .....? and it lists a new serial number.

I?m quite surprised, never expected this, and don?t know enough about manu. tolerances, operational testing or what would make them do so. Thoughts?
