Sorry it has taken so long. Didn't get to shoot as much as I wanted, but did get a couple targets together for everyone waiting. These are the results I managed to get while spreading 2 tons of fertilizer and planting 6 acres of corn yesterday.
First let me say, I do like these sights, ALOT!!!! These sights are not like using your standard rear notch and front post sights. It has a more open design and I almost think I could pick up the front sight with my eyes closed.
The ammo used was S&B 124 gr. fmj. I did not practice and then shoot a target for this review. I started cold turkey and because of planting corn simply did not have the time.
I tried two different ways of aiming. The first pics is my first target of the day and also my first shots with the xs big dot sight. I held the bottom of the front dot very tight on top of the rear sight and I used the top of the dot as my aiming point.
The results were, as the first picture shows.
5 yds, was 2" low
10 yds. was 3" low
15 yds. was 4" low
20 yds. was 5" low
I went on to planting while giving it a little thought. At lunch time we took a break and I walked back over to the range. This time I decided to try them as xs recommends, go figure. I didn't try holding the front dot so tight on top of the rear sight and used it as a dot sight, covering the target with the center of the front dot as my aiming point. The second picture shows the results of this. My groups aren't quite as tight, but I was dragging butt after 2 tons of fertilizer, 5 hours of disking and still had about 9 hours of planting to go.
Over all, I am very pleased with my new sights and the results.
I will be posting more results as I get them. Sorry for the delay.
First target of the day. All groups are 5 shots.
This is the second target of the day. All groups are 5 shots.
After posting, noticed the second target was not very clear. Here are some expanded pictures of second target.
