What's a Good Price for a gently used 99041?
« on: April 13, 2019, 12:40:46 PM »
Howdy,

New to the CZ world and trying to wrap my head around the price of entry for a preferred model.

I've been trying to bird dog this compact model (99041) for a bit now and have an opportunity to pick one from a local, private source, supposedly in great condition, but for a high price.

Just wondering what the experts would say is a fair deal.

I've scoured the forums and the internets and there's a lot of variation, however, those transactions were from last year, much closer to the last release of the 99041s.

Seems like the 99021s consistently go for a pretty penny. I know they're more rare, but they're also pretty dang similar.

Thanks!

What is the seller asking? And what model is it? We don't all know what SKUs mean.
Does it have any 'customization'?

No customizations, 200 rounds through it, and $900 cold ones.

And to clarify, my interest in it (and willingness to overpay) is due to an injury, a compact 75 with an ambi safety is kind of made for me!

I'm not an expert but that seems pretty pricey to me. Maybe you could talk him down some on the price? I guess if not and you're willing to overpay to get the model you want it's what the market will bear.
Have you considered the P-01 Omega? It has an aluminum alloy frame, not steel but it can be configured to have ambi safety or decocker.

Howdy gwvt,

Yes indeed it does, and believe it or not that's after the price talk down.

I think I'm going to go for it (and fully expect to hear better options on here immediately after I do). I figure being able to physically see it and inspect it, plus saving all the time from searching over the next few months, saving on shipping and taxes as well, make up for the say $250 or so I'm likely over paying.

And thanks for the Omega suggestion, that was my first choice but it turns out that the Omega system will not accommodate a CGW modification I plan to get once my bank account recovers...next year.

21?s and 41?s ?shouldn?t? be over 500.  However, people pay it and as the saying goes ?it?s always worth what someone is willing to pay?.  I picked up my 99021 used for 550 and felt I had over paid, but I was willing to go 650 considering how hard they are to find and have seen the go for over 2k on Gunbroker when they were really hot.  So bottom line is, if it?s what you want and you got the money who cares, get it.  I ended up dropping quit a bit into mine after I got it but it is one of my favorites now.

Thanks ejb1975,

Yeah, that's my thinking as well.

Just out of curiosity though, when did you pick it up?

From what I can tell, $600 was a pretty standard price for these puppies, butttt that was last year, and I'm not seeing much movement on these guys since that point. I have no idea how this stuff works, but I figure time may have increased the scarcity as folks who were noncommital already sold them to folks who really wanted them.

I picked mine up a little over a year ago, it is one hell of a shooter

Wow that is as pretty as it gets. You get a stainless job or buy it that way?

Thanks, It was black just like the other 99021?s when I got it, sent it off for hard chrome and then installed all the goodies when it returned.

Seems these are picking up right now.  I have been looking for recent sales to price out my 99021.   Once I quoted it to someone who likes it better than me, a couple of gun broker auctions popped up and I saw one that started at $750 and was bid to $910 last I checked.  Another popped up (unmodified) at $700ish.   The $910 was only two bidders, so as for setting market price that is likely high.  Auctions are starting mid $700s and selling.   Of course all this came after I quoted mine.   Mine isn?t perfect though with a grip screw head rusted and one of the rubber mag bumpers (2 mags) missing as well as a few holster use marks.  New, real good condition, I?d say $700+ wouldn?t sit on the shelf.  Fair condition, in my opinion, sits at $600ish.   The full CGW modded ones are getting $1200+.

99021 and 99041 are different by the roll marks on the slide.  Same beavertail and steel framed railed 75 compact.

Regardless of price, it?s finding a seller willing to part with a rare model that?s the problem.

Thanks Marty,

Yeah that makes perfect sense. Honestly the biggest reason why I'm doing it is I get to see it in person before buying, and avoid paying shipping, FFL fees, and if it were a dealer, taxes as well.

Well I?m amibidextrous and prefer left handed mag release for right or left handeduse.  That is the reason I bought this one.  It?s a little tricky swapping over.  I did it just now back to right handed for the buyer.  I carried this OWB a few months.  It?s heavy for a compact, which improves accuracy and follow up shots, but makes IWB in warm weather not so comfy.  I can certainly recommend these two models for roles other than  warm weather IWB.  The only other issue which pertains to your want for one; I don?t like the safety for left handed use.  While it?s there, it pivots on the left side of the frame and makes left handed use of the safety a little... ?squishy? feeling.  The mag release is great in either config.

That's the only complaint I have with mine...the weight, These are not light pistols, and according to my kitchen scale, they as much as a full size 1911. For that reason, mine is more of a range toy... Sure, you could carry it, but why? When there's much better, lighter, options like a P07, or a P01, carrying one of these unless you really, really, want to, or if it's all you have, dosen't make alot of sense..
