CZ75 P-01 Trigger Shape Issue
« on: September 30, 2021, 04:36:29 PM »
Hopefully you guys and gals can give me some advice regarding the trigger on a CZ75 P-01.

It's an accurate and reliable pistol but, from the factory, it's extremely uncomfortable to shoot. I notice the sharp tip of that extremely curved trigger, and my friends notice it too. Fresh out of the box, it was not remotely smooth or rounded at the tip, which was machined/cut with a sharply squared off edge and corner that makes the trigger finger sting after a dozen or so rounds. Just not fun to shoot after a few mags, and miserable on a cold day - even noticeable through thin (neoprene) shooting gloves.

I've seen similar complaints regarding the regular P-01, which appears (from pics online) to have the same trigger. But none about the compact CZ75 P-01 (DA/SA with de-cocker in this case).

I very carefully filed the unfinished trigger tip, rounding off those sharp edges a bit. This seems to help somewhat, but I'm tempted to do more, and maybe even shave a full 1/8" off the end, tapering it down to something with a more natural (common) shape/feel to it (less like a gaff hook and more like a trigger).

Before I do that...

Has anyone here experienced the same thing and modified or replaced the trigger on your CZ75 P-01? Would love to hear about whatever you've done and what results you achieved. Maybe see a pic or two?

Thanks for looking!

Howdy from the Sacramento area!!

I love my P01 and RAMI but my finger did not like the curvature/fit of the stock triggers.  I solved the issue by ordering an "old style" trigger for each from Cajun Gun Works (like $57 I think).   The curvature of the old style is not as pronounced and I now shoot without any trigger finger discomfort.

I took a photo of my P01 (DA/SA decocker) with the old style trigger at full cock and put it over the original trigger to give you an idea of difference in curvature.

Installation of the old style trigger was a breeze and there's lots of vids on YouTube to help.

Good luck!

Yeah the trigger curve was one of the reasons I got a Omega.

I also installed the "old style" trigger from Cajun for a better feel. If you choose to do this; I'd highly recommend getting the Cajun Floating Trigger Pin, and, if you're installing it yourself, the Cajun Starter Punch. The factory pin is installed tight and you'll need this punch to get it out.

The trigger is not the easiest to replace. But it can be done if you have a modicum of gunsmithing skills.

While your at it get yourself a decocker slave pin too.  It will aid in removing the sear cage which is the easiest way to replace the trigger.  It isn't completely necessary to remove but will make the trigger replacement less tedious.

Parts needed:
Original 85C trigger (or CGW's replica)
Floating Trigger Pin
Slave Pin

I completely agree that the stock recurve trigger is uncomfortable and I think CZ finally listened and has changed out the triggers on some of the new model guns.

While you in there, you could polish up the internals and really accelerate smoothing out the trigger pull.  There are plenty of tutorials here to find in the gunsmithing section for help if needed.

Cheers,
Toby

Well heck, while you’ve got it torn apart and polishing, you may as well get the short reset kit with Type 2 disco. [emoji85][emoji87][emoji86]

And since you've shortened the reset and lightened the DA, might as well put in a competition hammer too!  O0

We're a bunch of enablers!

In answer to your original question, here are a couple of threads that discuss modifying the stock recurve trigger.  You can't do it without either shortening it or adding a sharp bend near the tip.

The shadow 2 variants have a more generous trigger guard and you don't have to shorten the trigger as much.  The P-01 trigger guard has less room to straighten the trigger.  I'd skip it and just purchase a replacement trigger, the feel is sooo much better with the original 85C trigger.

Cheers,
Toby

Thanks for the useful suggestions. This won't be my first wep to undergo some sort of mod or upgrade and I just wanted to get some shared knowledge from others before I dove in.

I have the P-01 Omega and have no problems with the trigger. I have a Browning Buckmark with a curved trigger and love it, fits my finger like a glove.

I HATE the trigger ergo’s of any CZ with that crazy aggressive stock trigger, it’s the worse.
I run the CGW “old style” trigger in all of my CZ’s it’s the best alternative IMO, unless you’re into flat triggers which isn’t my cup of tea either.

And a race hammer and LOK bogies grips! Might as well make it the best possible😎

That's why I didn't. Omegas just never will tune up in comparison to the traditional 75 action, never.
