New CZ Parts Including Rear Sights
« on: February 04, 2005, 09:31:33 PM »
Anyone remember the EGE P9 hammer??
Well it was a hammer that could be fitted to the Springfield PA (Tangfoglio) and it made the trigger break so much much better. Well CZ have re invented the wheel. I fitted one of these new hammers, A to the CZ97B project gun and B to a CZ75B Compact. and all I can say is WOW. What a complete difference with little or no other work. Well the DA still needed a little.

The Fiber Optic front sight for standard height rear sight are also available. The higher version for the Competition Rear will be along soon

Excellent. I got three sets of sights and trigger and hammer.

CZ-USA is still weeks away from having single action triggers in stock.

Angus, any idea when these items will ship? Is everything in stock?

I was just at the CZ-USA page and didn't see these items listed. What are the prices for these items?

Hi Angus!
The fiber optic sight locks like the one I bought from Rezek in CZ. The fibers measures roughly 2 mm in diameter. Is it the same? I sure would need some spare fibers. Do you sell any? I haven't managed to locate this thickness anywhere.

Thanks!

The fiber on this sight is 1.5mm not 2mm I have 1 and 1.5 fiber no 2mm right now. I can get some if you need it.

I have a couple questions about the sights and hammers:
1) Is the fiber optic front sight compatible with the competition rear sight (i.e. proper height and width)?
2) You mentioned EGE hammer (did you mean EGW hammer?).  EGW makes a replacement sear for the CZ-75.  Do you have any experience with this sear?  Do you have an opinion on it as a suitable modification to the CZ-75?
3) Is the competition hammer a drop in part, or does it really require more subtle adjustments and "fitting" by a pistolsmith?

Thanks

Very good to know there can be found somewhere, but I wait for the moment to see if I need anything more or someone else need anything from you.

See you!

I ordered the steel SA trigger and a trigger for my 75B and I can't wait to get them.......then my CZ will be very cool!

BTW, do I only have to install the new trigger to get it into single-action only mode, or is there more to do?

Wow.

Just wow.

So I ordered my parts late on Friday night.

I had some questions for the man but I didn't really expect any answers on the weekend.

Angus sends me an email the next day, answering all my questions. Then he does the work of filing the front sights to match my guns on Sunday. One for a CZ 85 Compact, another for a 97B, the third left stock for my future SP-01.

I just got an automated email saying that my parts have been shipped. I ordered late on Friday night and Angus shipped it Monday morning with customized parts, including the steel SA triggers that CZ can't seem to get in stock.

The FO FS we have at the moment is too low for the Competition rear but the width is good, if you want to shoot about 3" high then it will work. We are working on getting the higher FO front sights. Which are only about 1.0mm higher

Yup typo EGW, both their sear and their hammer when they had it were awesome parts, but they were intended for the other CZ (P9 Tanfoglio clone) so I do not have any experience putting them in the CZ guns, anyone else?

 3) Is the competition hammer a drop in part, or does it really require more subtle adjustments and "fitting" by a pistolsmith?

I wish gunsmithing were that simple. I am not sure that here really is a "Drop In" part when concerned with sears, hammers and above all the overall safety of the gun. We always recomend that a gunsmith install ANY AND ALL. Custom parts. (Well maybe not sight)

Safety above all

Angus,

Any other suppliers of 1.5mm FO filaments.  I do not remember seeing that size before.

Hi Angus,

I got my parts and put them in my CZ 85 Compact. Stupid Virginia has a 1 gun every 30 day limit so my FFL dealer has my 97B in his gunsafe. This blows.

Anyway, the parts went in smoothly. I was forced to remove the firing pin safety because the competition hammer has a very small engagement window that doesn't allow the firing pin safety to actuate in time. Eh. No loss. It's a range gun.

Two issues that I ran into.

One of the rear sights seemed oversize. The second one went in without a burp but the first one I tried absolutely got chewed up by the slide slot. I guess it's better that the sights are made of a softer metal than the slide, but it got tore up pretty bad. Can I send it back for you to look at?

The second issue I can probably fix with a trip to Home Depot. One of the set screws in one of the triggers is missing. Got any laying around?

I can't wait to get to the range, the trigger/hammer is soooooo sweet and light. Here's a pic of the gun with your parts installed:

Hey Sang I sent email to you on this
These sight are EDM wire cut, and should therefore be almost identical I would be more inclined to think the slide cut was different.
If the part is tight it may need a little fitting not just whacking in with a mallet. That is why it says on the site some fitting maybe required. We cannot be aware of every sight cut size.

Sorry about the missing screw that was an oversight.

The firing pin block can be made to work with some careful filing you have to alter the release point of the firing pin block.
It may also ne necessary to remove metal from the thumb safety bar and / or the sear to make the thumb safety work correctly.

IF IN DOUBT SEEK A GUNSMITHS HELP FITTING TRIGGER PARTS.
ALWAYS CHECK ALL SAFETIES AFTER WORKING ON THE TRIGGER MECHANISM
