You fired 1,000 rds through a handgun in half a day - ???.

Yup.  Standard procedure for me when I break in a new pistol.  It helps to have my kids reload the mags for me.

While other retirees like to fish, I like to run drills on the range.

Hey, that's my kind of shooter!!

I'm a little short of 1000 rounds, but no malfunctions here either.  My magazine release is fine now, and the slide release is fine.  I am actually liking the trigger pull, and I haven't done anything more than put in the 4# Wolff trigger pin spring.

I've caught a lot of grief in the comments in my YouTube videos about adding the Sugru and JB-Weld to my pistol.  "Ugly but functional" is my response.  That's what happens when one tries to make a precision shooter (at least temporarily) out of a plastic carry gun, LOL.

Joe, after watching your vids and work tuning your P10C for your needs, it is nice to see someone who understands that some custom tuning is a must to squeeze out max performance.  I have seen people commenting on your youtube vids, its your pistol, not theirs.  And you can do what you want with your own gear.  In this day and age, the internet makes it too easy to say stuff behind a security electronic wall, I bet many would say their comments in person.

I like to shoot/train.  I guess the quest to shoot and get better got ingrained in me when I was in the Army and when I worked on the street patrolling heavy crime areas.  When I was single, my budget allowed me to shoot a minimum of 4000 rounds a month.  Now, being retired and having a family, I have to save up to get new gear and especially ammo.  So, for me nowadays, I only shoot 1K in a day to break in a new pistol, because it may be thrust into an active self-defense role.

My weekly practices involve 100 pistol, 100 carbine, and 50 12 gauge.  My family does participate once a month and they go though a similar round count.

For what it's worth, the slide release on my P10C was almost impossible to close -- even with two hands -- at first. It was almost as if somebody had applied lock-tite. But, it has since loosened up quite a bit to where I can thumb close it like most other pistols, though still a bit tight.* Planning on taking mine out for a second shooting sometime this weekend.

*Which, frankly, isn't that surprising for a CZ since they always seem to come out of the box very stiff and then loosen up nicely.

Hey, I'm liking the jacket and hat myself...:)
I only have about 300 through my P-10C, need to get out in the garage and cast up some more bullets! Nice to see everything loosened up. I sat and watched TV while working the mag release incessantly, and it now works just fine, loaded, unloaded, open or closed, but the crunchiness in the trigger is still lingering. I figure another 200 rounds and we'll be in the ballpark. :)
Thanks for the post!

Thanks !!  The sun up here in the Rockies is brutal in the summer.  I have to cover up to keep from burning to a crisp.   :D

I was doing the same thing to loosen up the controls.  Mag changes, trigger presses, slide releases while watching John Wick.  :)

Ok, you got me.  :)

The pattern is ATacs, somewhat faded since I use it a lot.

Approximately how many rounds would you say it took before you were able to activate the slide release with your thumb?

I finally received my P10C yesterday.  My pistol was ordered via CZ's MIL/LE program.  The order was accepted on Jan 23,2017 and was shipped on June 3, 2017.  Here my initial impressions.

*  Passes the plunk test with Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr +P and Underwood Ammo's 147 gr XTP +P.  My CZ P07, P09, and SP 01 doesn't.

What's the "plunk test," if you don't mind me asking?

When I examined my P10C out of the box, I checked the slide release.  It was stiff, but I could thumb the slide stop down with two thumbs.  After two mags of Hirtenberger FL +P+, I could thumb the slide stop with one thumb (both sides).  After my test session yesterday, the slide stop runs as it should.

My older/vintage pre B CZ75s have no problem with the heavier loads touch the rifling.  My SP01, P07 and P09 have.

This will explain the plunk test:

200 live rounds plus 50 unchambered closings using the release, and a lot of oil charitably applied around the release.

It's annoying as hell at first, but one of those things that I'm used to with CZs -- none of mine have been the same pistol at the first round and the 500th round. They have always been almost unbearably stiff at first, and then broke in nicely.

Which is to say that I can't emphasize enough before one fires any new CZ for the first time the importance of a thorough strip, scrub cleaning, and judicious oiling ("the first time out, if it ain't drippin' it probably needs more oil"). And of course a thorough strip, scrub cleaning and judicial oiling every trip out for at least the first 500 rounds -- a mere boresnake clean is doing the pistol a disservice its first few trips to the range, IMHO (I don't claim to be anything like an expert, BTW, but just giving my impression and amateur advice on what has worked well for my CZs).
