Yep. Go to his site and you'll see that you pay for the finishing and the shipping in your check to him. It's great that he does all of the disassembly and reassembly for that price.

What service did you use to send the gun to him? Did you use the post office? Does he send it back to your house or does he require a local gun shop to send it back. Brian at EFR requires it to be sent to and from your local gun shop

I have a C&R permit, so it was sent directly to my house. I'm not sure if it's different when your gun is registered as a regular firearm. Anyway, I removed the grip panels, magazine and recoil spring and sent the rest to him (with the slide unattached to the frame) via UPS as machine parts.

Not trying to lecture or get you in trouble, but doesn't that violate federal law?  The frame of a pistol is defined as a firearm, so it must be shipped as a firearm, no?

I don't think C&R guns work the same way. They don't go through and FFL, when going from one C&R person and another.

I looked this up when I got my C&R, because I intended to ship mine off for refinishing before I found a local guy to do it. It basically confirms that a C&R licensee can ship to another C&R licensee or to a regular FFL licensee and vice versa.

Don't be scared to take them apart.  Yes, like anything there's a little bit of "fiddling" necessary, but reassembly isn't in the same league as my Browning Buckmark (which I selected over a Ruger Mk III based on reading horror stories about putting the Ruger back together).

looks great but they are having to "fix/repair" a part from breaking it down, which bums me out. What do you guys think? A pair of half checkered walnut grips waiting at home for it

Did they break the slide release spring? That is a tricky part, I broke one first time I stripped mine too.
