So, I don't know where to put this topic so I'll try here.
Has anyone heard anything about the CZ 75 P-02? This is from the CZUB Site (http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz/PC/CZ_75_P-02.aspx):
New P-02 model is CZ 75 D COMPACT pistol equipped with Omega trigger system. The main advantage is the ease of decocking lever or manual safety interchange in the same manner as applied for the CZ 75 P-07 DUTY model.
Does anyone know when will it be released or if it is going to be ambidextrous like the P-07? I am left-handed and have been waiting forever for CZ to release a compact 9mm pistol with an ambidextrous manual safety.
The CZ-USA site doesn't even list it, so if anyone knows anything please share :)
-
This is the first I've heard of a P-02.
I like the Omega trigger system, so I'd like to hear more too.
-
Looks like they also got some new magazines for it.
-
Sent an e-mail to CZ: send it here, it will sell! Now we wait.
-
Wow, I would like to hear more as well.
-
I e-mailed CZ-USA customer service asking for a U.S. release date and any available info and
the guy who responded said that the only info he had was what was on the site and that they don't
have a release date yet.
A side note, I love CZ customer service. I got a response e-mail in a couple of hours. MUCH faster than other firearms companies I've dealt with which
won't be named (they know who they are)
-
It looks interesting! Would like to see it on the shelves.
-
Indeed quite interesting, what exactly does the omega trigger do besides let you switch safety decocker (something I'd never do, I go decocker only). Nice to have an ambidextrous option, but its not really vital for a lefty.
-
Very Cool! Waiting for SP-02 Tactical O0
-
Ooooooh...... ;D I agree, SP02 Shadow! Or would that be Shadow II? Yes, the P02 is the logical next step, absolutely, not that I think there's anything wrong with my p01 trigger. The Omega is in the P07, and it feels smoother to me from the outset.
-
Yes, the Omega trigger is simpler.
The P-02 is what some people have wanted for a long time.
The ability to carry a alloy framed Compact sized gun cocked locked.
Edited:This will give them a P-01 platform gun with that option.
One can hope that is will sell for substantially less than a P-01.

And people say CZ never listens... :)
-
This makes sense that they would anounce this after I spent years waiting for a condition 1 capable compact 9mm to replace my Glock for carry duty. I just picked up my P01 for Top Gun Supply 2 days ago. Oh well, hopefully I can afford a P02 when it hits the market.
-
Sorry, amigo. You will love the P01! As for the P02, confirmed we have no import data at this time, CZ-UB kept this one under CLOSE wraps!
-
...CZ-UB kept this one under CLOSE wraps!
Dirty rotten scondrels :-\
And yes, you will love your P-01. If not, buy the P-02 when it comes! ;D
-
Oh man and I am very close to purchasing a P01 from TGS.
-
Id' go ahead and do that, we don't know when this one will arrive. It may be quite a while.
-
I'm soo sorry to have read the CZUB specs wrong.
NOT a polymer frame, but still pretty neat!
-
Dang it!! Another cZ that will have to be brought home. ;D
-
Recieved this this morning.
Dear Sir,
The raw material for P-02 pistol frame is a light alloy;
The safety/decocker levers are the same polymer, used on the P-07, because P-02 and P-07 models have the same "OMEGA" trigger mechanism.
Best regards

CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT.
-
anyone have an estimate on when the P-02 will be released?
-
Nothing yet, it may be in Customs process, or it may not have reached that point. We can only wait...
-
P-03 in .40 for 2011?
I think it would be the next step in P-01 platform evolution.
-
P-06 with Omega Tigger and TRU-dOT STEEL SITES
-
PLEASE use standard P-01 mags!
-
I'd be shocked if it didn't use the same Compact mags - same frame.
-
Same here, it's just someone mentioned in page 1 that it looks like they got new magazines. Looks like the same ones to me except with those thick rubber base plates.
I wanted to pick up a 2nd P-01 because I love mines so much, but a P-02 would be awesome. Is there a diagram of a CZ Omega trigger, want to see how it compares to a standard CZ trigger.
-
My P-01 is waiting at my dealer's. I'll bring her home tomorrow.
The P-02 is THE gun I would have preferred; here is the company web-description:
http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz/PC/CZ_75_P-02.aspx (http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz/PC/CZ_75_P-02.aspx)
Gosh, I may end up with two of these CZ's. Does anyone wanna buy a ....... or a ............or maybe a .............?
:) Sonny
-
Looks like a buy, now if it comes in .40 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
-
Word is: No P-02s until next year.
I wish they would just offer a P-01 in both 9mm .40 and .357 SIG with a
polymer frame.

I would be cautious with the Omega Trigger system as its so new. On closer inspection, the omega trigger system is very similar to the Sig trigger system. The barrel significantly changed to accommodate and once again, a lot of resemblance to the Sig barrel. BTW, the barrel feed ramp isn't stainless and has a nasty (grey) finish that comes off with rounds fired (yuck). Not that nice stainless feed ramp feel that guarantees a smooth feed.
I will admit that it is significantly simpler but it appears to be more of a copy than a novel CZ design. The current platform has been in place for a long time and works just fine. This is a significant redesign that closely mirrors a Sig. Not sure what the advantages are over purchasing a proven Sig but you do lose interoperability with other CZs.
As an example, the Duty, which uses the Omega will accept CZ-75 mags. However, given the cant in the Duty mags, they wont fit a P-01. :-(
Companies do product releases on 'early adopters / enthusiasts'. Be careful about giving any company your money until reliability and performance is proven.
Just my two cents.
-
Have an SP-01 (Phantom), looking for CZ carry pistol. What's to compare (choose) between the P-01/02 and the PCR?
-
P-01. Solid carry choice for pistols. That or the Glock 19.
-
If you like CZ grip angle, P01 or PCR. Can't stand Glocks, personal opinion.
-
P01 or a CZ-2075 RAMI BD, which is a bit smaller, but the controls are the same.
-
Sorry FOMA. never say glock 19 in the same sentence with P-01. You can shoot lead through a P-01 all year long with no problems. Do that with Glock and you'll need hand surgery when the KaBoom occurs! P-01 = Best bleeped pistol I have ever shoot.
-
Can't argue with your last comment. The P-01 is a solid weapon, no doubt about it. :-) Personally, I'm not a fan of Glocks but will give credit when it's due. The Glock does rough the hand up more than necessary when shooting large quantities of ammo. I put 600 rounds through my P-01 in under 1 hour. No issues of any kind, pistol or me. The light alloy frame is a different discussion.
-
Looks interesting. Too bad we in CA will only be able to admire from a distance. No mag safety lock, no approval in CA. And if micro stamping were an available technology, that would have to be included also for us to be able to buy it. Sad, sad situation.! ! ! Can't buy a shadow either. :-(
-
Not too many miles east of you is Free AZ. C'mon over before we set up The Wall, complete with cactus launchers and coyote throwers, to stave off the hordes of Gucci wearing, empty Evian bottle clutching leftists fleeing thier former mecca.

Too Funny! I love the bit about Gucci wearing Evian bottle clutching.

Now that's funny, I don't care where you're from... ;D

Why, thankee kindly, sah! ;)
P02 will interchange like the P07 with the safety or decocker, and I think if this works as advertised, (which they usually do), the wave will be all CZ carry type pistols will be offerred with this setup, so both the cocked and locked types and us decocker types can have what we want. :)
I am looking forward to this next year.

+1 on the Gucci line. Had me laughing tears for a few. :D
Does this mean we can get our hopes up for the Christmas giveaway this year? Hint, hint! O0
-
Now would I say anything about the Christmas Giveaway? Nope! You're just gonna have to wait like everyone else... ;D
-
I am so ready for the P-02 to get here. Really want a CZ compact with manual safety and rail... Whats the status on these, anyone?
-
Yes, inquiring minds want to know. . . but what to get first? The PO2 or a SP01 or a 97B? Too many choices.
-
This will be sweet!
-
The P-02 isn't listed in the 2011 catalog.

Without a photo they don't exist! Waiting for your range report.
-
Nice, sir. Wish I was closer, get you some good photos. :)
-
You're not kidding;they are sexy beasts for sure :o I'm excited for ya Shadow Warrior. I just got my CZ 82 an when I get my safety class completed I just may take u up on the range offer..I like the way you think :) Looking forward to your impressions.
AI
-
So it wasn't your best shooting day Shadow :-X. But now that you have your baseline you can work up from there ;)
AI
-
15 years?! I couldn't imagine going that long with shooting, heck and can't even keep my ammo stocked up!
I really want to get a CZ target pistol, most likely the Shadow... After a Rami, Mossberg 500 spx, and VZ-58, in that order.
-
shocks, thought the P02 would be the compact w/ manual safety, since the P01 already was w/ the decocker. Won't there be a compact w/ long dust and the manual safety?
-
The P-02 has the Omega trigger system which allows you to switch between the Decocker or Manual Safety. You get both, I'll pick one up when they arrive.
-
When?????
-
I have been carrying a PCR for years that's a fine gun overall. But the trigger on it has been disappointing, both because the recurve really pinches my finger after about 50 rounds and because I prefer a manual safety. I want to carry condition 1, but won't carry condition 0. I don't want to buy a P-02 or P-07 because of all the holsters I already have and because I really like the PCR loaded chamber indicator.
Is there any chance I would be able to switch the P-02 Omega Trigger into my PCR? I'd be willing to switch the barrel etc if necessary.
-
It might be easier to lop off the dust covers and weld them on the other frame.
-
So whats the latest news for the PO2? Its not in the 2011 cataloge....so? Not til next year??
-
Any word on the P-02 making its way to the US market?
-
If it's got the Omega trigger the can go ahead and keep it over in Europe as far as I care... The Omega triggers suck IMHO, yeah they might come out of the box a hair better and they're simpler parts-wise and can be switched between safety or decocker... but, they also don't work with the CZC competition hammers and they don't respond to the usual trigger job techniques employed on CZ's or break-in and get better over time the same way many of us are used to.
A P-01 in the traditional CZ SA/DA pattern would be THE carry gun, so many of us want it, forget this Omega BS and just make the gun we want already.
-
Just a teeny weeny quetion. Can we install the internals of this P-02 to our beloved P-01. Just wanted to try what the heck is all about with this Omega trigger thingie. Thanks
-
The P-02 is not even listed in the 2011-12 catalog. I guess that the pistol is a year or more away? How can that be?

Also note that the PCR compact is not even in the catalog.

EDITED on 3-16-2012
I was wrong. The P-02 shows up in the 2012 catalog. The PCR is in there too.
Also, I bought a P07 and I like the trigger.
But that is another Ginger VS MaryAnn thing.

CK1: I generally agree, but...
I went through 3 P01s all had disappointing triggers and the decockers were not all that good. They did not "smooth out" over time either. Do you also mean that you cannot disassemble the Omega and at least smooth the DA trigger action???
-
I went through 3 P01s all had disappointing triggers and the decockers were not all that good. [/quote]
3 bad p-01, that suxz. That is definetly an out, thre stirkes and they are out. I am a little concerned with this outcome. Are the P-01s that bad? Definetly will think twice or three times before I get another one.
-
NO... P01s are excellent guns. I broke their trigger return springs and went through junk getting them fixed. CZ had a bad run of trigger springs back in '03, and I suffered for it. AND... this is the crux of the P01. With the ridiculous decocker, they are HARD to detail strip and do trigger work on, and replace the return spring. THUS, the avg guy has to send it BACK to CZ. At that time, they charged shipping... Yeah, $50 for a $2 spring... NOPE.
However, the P01 itself is light, accurate, and reliable as all getout. IF they made it with a NORMAL CZ 75 safety, it would be the best pistol in the world OTB. I hate the decocker. If you ike decockers, the P01 is the ticket. Buy with confidence.
BTW - I am the only guy in CZ history to break about 7 trigger springs. Its a long story... But, I learned to detail strip out of it...
-
Understood. I have a one. I like it so far and I thought maybe i just got lucky.
I am shopping for a new firearm and the P-01 OD Green one was on the short list. So, when I saw this I was like o'boy maybe not, scratch that off my list.
Well now I am not sure. I have done a lot of research which really has only made it more complex. All of the great caliber options out there and so many guns to choose from.
I like the decocker option but the next one will be just for fun, so it is not a must but I like to carry in what may be consided Condition Two, instead of fully decocked I like half decocked. This opens my option which also add more decisions to make.
Thanks for the information as all of these discussions do help.

Dear All,
The only "major" difference between the P01 and P02 is the trigger system; Omega.
I just returned from the Czech Republic/ Prague mid January, as we spent the holidays in Europe. I've had the pleasure of visiting their factory store and speak to their people directly.
I've also handled the gun.
The trigger system feels the same as in the P07- soft, shorter travel, comfortable, without loss of precision.
Now, about the store, it is beautifully built, using more Turkish walnut wood I have seen anywhere else. It is exactly what you see on the cz.cz website. A very stylish, classic looking store. They kindly asked me not to take any pictures, but I've prought a store brochure home.
Something to know, their business is mostly overseas (80%), with only 20% of the market share in CZ Republic. Unfortunately, their people do not recognize excelence, as they feel that anything that was designed and made under the Iron Curtain is not quality, and resume to purchasing "western" made products, such as Glock and Sig.
Ceska Zbrojovka sells their rifles best in South Africa, who thoroughly appreciates them. Germany is second (go figure- a compliment for them), and finally US of A, where we recognize quality when we see it.
Another detail to know, is that the firearms cost more there, as I have done the dollar/ corons parity. They are doing a great job here, bringing them in at real reasonable prices.
I hope this helps.
Cheers.

Here I am asking again. Can we install the internals of this P-02 to our beloved P-01? Just wanted to try what the heck is all about with this Omega trigger thingie.
-
Does anyone have any updated info on the P-02? I emailed and asked about availability date but no response yet.
-
Here I am asking again. Can we install the internals of this P-02 to our beloved P-01? Just wanted to try what the heck is all about with this Omega trigger thingie.
No. I have a p-02. It's the only CZ ? heck, the only pistol I own ? and the internals of the Omega system don't go into the P-01. Lots and lots of things are different about it. But after Schmeky finished with mine, all I can say is it's fabulous. Terrific trigger/action. (It took some doing, however.) David took out all the DA creep and got the poundage down to 6.6lbs DA, and a 2.11lbs SA that is just plain awesome. So, it's possible to clean them up and make 'em better, that's for sure. David did it.
...but no, you can't swap them out with the guts of a P-01.
...But why bother? You can, with minimal effort and cost, make the trigger on a P-01 terrific!
-
No updates on P02's. Haven't seen any since the first few were in country last year.
-
I was wrong. The P-02 shows up in the 2012 catalog.
After reading this I had to get my 2012 catalog and take another look. Sancho is correct. I didn't realize the P-02 is in the new catalog probably because there is no actual written mention of the P-02 existing at all. It's only appears at the bottom of page 18 in the "Specifications" list. The P-02 is not listed in the "Pricing" list on page 19. ???
-
why is po-2 not release there in the u.s? also, there are almost no reviews of it in the net
-
Because CZ churns out more 'police' pistols as aftermarket. They are not really interested in doing market research to get to the public. They seem to want to sell what is in a sense 'surplus'. It is easier, and their guns still sell.
OTOH, they would BLOW away SIG and others with a lightweight, accurate and reliable, slim, and ergonomic compact pistol. Who would NOT want one with essentially a 1911 operating system? But, that would require a slight mod to production that they are not willing to do.
It's dumb - but it is easier.
-
I was JUST about to place my order for a P-01 when I saw this thread...
I am half tempted to wait for the P-02...but then again, this thread was started years ago and I have yet to see a single P-02 in stores.
Are they even available right now?

P-02 Omega is a wild goose chase. The P-02 is listed in the CZ-USA printed catalog but not listed on their website. A few have popped up here and there but I wouldn't hold out for one if you need a handgun right now. Go ahead and get the P-01 or if you want the Omega trigger get a P-07.

I agree with you jim! I lucked out owning a p02, but they surely are unicorns

The P-02 could be great. But, when is the last time anyone checked for availability? More generally,
other than the trigger, what is the basis for choosing among several CZ's 9 mm compacts? I don't care
about the rail. Main concern is reliability, but of course price and availability issues? Not in a big hurry.
Willing to wait a few months, but I'm not sure how to choose among the compacts. Can orders be placed
for the P-02 now? Am thinking that availability could go down after the election. Appreciate any ideas
on how to make a decision. Have the SP-01 and love it. Looking for something slightly smaller and no
heavier. Also considering the P-06. Any thought on its recoil and reliability?

P02, none came into the US this year

Since you are already familiar with the SP-01 (full size) the P-01 or P-06 (compact) would be a great choice. 8)

I think it is more that our import restrictions are a major headache for them. Also with the new BREN and Skorpion as well as the P-01 they are probably focusing more on domestic military contracts then exports.
-
I think its more of what CZ-UB is manufacturing and has available for import.
truthfully while the P02 is listed on the 2012 product list, did in fact CZUB actually make any, make enough and were they even available to CZ-USA.

Any update news so far?
-
I have a P-01 and really enjoy it. The P-O2 looks like the upgraded version
and would definitely consider one when and if they come to market.
The other pistols I have tried just do not come up to the CZ standard.
-
Anyone know when this is to come? any speculation? Looks like the Gun i want... I having been mulling a P01 vs a P07 over the last week and keep changing my mind... bu this would be a simple choice! BUY BUY BUY
-
The P-02 (P-01 with Omega trigger) is not listed on the CZ-USA website or the CZUB website. I think it's safe to say CZ discontinued the compact P-02 after releasing the fullsize 75 B Omega. But, then again, I could be wrong. The Olive Drab Green P-01 is not listed on either website, but is still available TMK.
-
Wow thanks for that thread... Love the OD green. I would buy that on the spot!
-
The P-02 is another project that has already seen limited exposure is Europe, but is languishing at the back of the pack right now for the US, giving way and manufacturing space for the P-09 and the massive military contracts still being filled. I think the P-02 will come in, but it won't be in huge numbers, and it won't be heralded with fanfare, as the new poly Duty pistols are getting that attention.
-
Hiya, new to posting, but purchased my first CZ, a po-2; compact omega in oct of 2011 at CZ custom. In the months that followed a Shadow, 75b-sa, and Tactical sports, I wanted the po-2's trigger to be as sweet as the others, Stewart worked his magic, and it cant be done, as its a EDC the FPB stays. I would not buy another omega trigger from CZ. Its plenty accurate inside 7 yards, and one knows how much more so it would be if the trigger has a crisp reset, and less general play after the first DA shot is fired. Fits great in the hand, true craftsmenship, even like the Kadet on it for the DA practice. I liked the factory sights better than the trijicons I had on it once, but when I got some lessons using my hex site set up; works better than a red dot.
Thanks much to everyone that has contributed to the forum, the learning curve still continues. Special thanks to Stewart, and Denn for their help, advice, and craftsmenship. Now to try and follow Denn's advice on postin a pic...be well If it did work, seems you can view all my pics there, we'll see.

The bladetech elipse also fits any sp-01 frame.

Tell us more about the Hex sight!
-
Hiya Rmcnelly, think I saw a member here have David make a custom ghost ring for a po-1,that got me searching the net, and came across a site of the inventor, gunsmith, instructor, Tim Sheehan , and his "goshen-hexsite.com" and many questions will be addressed. He has a shop here in AZ, I drove up to Sedona a couple times, he showed me the process he uses , he instructed me in its use, and offered advice via email, calls, and lessons. He was able to use my factory front sight, machined it to his specs, and believe he used the factory dovetail for the hex. Cost was bout 200 sights installed, and 100 for private lessons. He uses SIRT pistols in training, so alot of dry firing practice. I chose to buy the laserlyte cartridge, from Amazon, in 9mm for the po-2, and it works in any 9mm semi auto. Because I just dont care for the Glock platform many SIRTS use.
As I mentioned in a previous post the hex for me , compared with the factory irons or trijicon night sites, is no comparison if ones goal is to put holes where you want as fast as you can pull the trigger. The experience is hard to into words, ya do all this practice with sighting, trigger control, dry fires etc., like a martial artist practices their forms for thousands of repetitions. Then on the range, with live fire, if you can kinda let the lessons become reflexes, ignore what your mind wants ta tell ya to do, and just let go. Next thing you are smiling at the hits ya landed, lookin over your shoulder ta see if anyone else noticed. Usually cant repeat the accuracy with taking extra time, "trying" to aim for the bull. For my EDC, I'm most confident in this set up,for these short distances and I'm sure everyone has their own path to getting to that level of confidence. But if I'd need to make a head shot at 30yards, I'd need my Tactical Sports and factory irons. So Rmcnelly, or anyone with questions I welcome pm's, prefer email. Would love to try my hex slide on a non omega trigger compact frame someday, if ya find yourself in the phx area sometime.

Thanks Adrian!

CZ give us the P02 PLEASE!!!! :'(

Adrian hex sight is pretty cool. got to shoot a few rounds through it a few months ago and I was very pleased with the results.
-
...CZ-UB kept this one under CLOSE wraps!
Dirty rotten scondrels :-\
And yes, you will love your P-01. If not, buy the P-02 when it comes! ;D
Other than a small shipment a while ago - it never came = SHAME on CZ-USA!!!!!!! Only castrated pistols for YOU USA!!!!!
-
So does that make my P01 a eunich? I always just thought it was unique O0 Seriously after doing the SRT trigger and replacing the factory hammer with the CGW Match hammer I dont feel that I'm at any disadvantage and doubt seriously if any of you could get an accurate shot off any quicker cocked and locked than I can with the hammer down.
-
So does that make my P01 a eunich?
briang2ad has a fear of pistols with decockers so he makes himself feel better by constantly referring to them as "castrated" pistols.
-
Funny the Beretta 92 or the Sig classic series also rely on decockers 2 of the finest designs ever with millions produced I would carry either of them into combat and never bat an eye. I have thousands of rounds through both systems without a stoppage and have carried both in my LE career. Never felt like either was Neutered and dont feel my P01 is either. It will take a long time for me to develope the trust for the P01 that I have for them, But I have to admit it's growing quickly. ;D I would love to find a way to modify the pistol into a DAK style trigger however LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE the DAK trigger system.

There's a P-02 for sale in the classifieds.

Yes, the P-02 is a P-01 with the Omega trigger system. Just like the 75 B Omega is just a 75 B with the Omega trigger system. Only difference is the trigger.

Hiya Jim in texas, another difference in my po-2 and its a big one for me as I shoot left and right handed is the ambi safety. Come from the factory with the decocker installed, but had the manual ambi safety in the case, and takes just a few minutes to swap out. My understanding is that a po-1 comes with one right side decocker, which I guess CZC has shown us can be converted to a manual, at additional cost, but wont come with a decocker to swap out. And its not ambi. Which shows a lil more love for those lefties out there.

This was the ad that czc had back on its site the fall of 2011 when I was shopping for my first gun. Its does not say po-2 on the slide, just 75 compact, and the omega symbol stamped on it for the trigger system.

I don't know where they're coming from since CZ and CZUB don't have them on their website but I was thrilled to get my P-02 yesterday from Mississippi Auto Arms, Inc. They aren't on their website but are $598.80. I bought mine in the store but their contact is:

Now I'm just dying for a competition hammer and trigger kit from Cajun Gun Works or Angus crew!! Trigger is great but it's always nice to tinker. I should note my safety is different than the one above and is the same as my SP-01 I think.

Just got the PO-2 and it came with the safety installed. I was under the impression that you could change the safety out and install a decoker. There was no decoker included with the pistol. How do I get one and how do I install it? I have a PO-7 and it came with both.

Wow..that is cool that there are some current P02 showing up. Those look great.

Only the P-07 allows the choice of manual safety or decocker. The P-02 Omega and 75 B Omega are only available with manual safety.

Are you saying that the P-02 only comes with the safety and you must buy a decocker separately? What would be the point of the P-02 if you can't switch between the two levers?

No decocker available at all on the P-02. Manual safety only. You can't switch it out.
The point of the P-02 is to offer an all metal P-01 style handgun with the Omega trigger system. Just like the point of the 75 B Omega is to offer an all metal CZ 75 B with the Omega trigger system.

I recall parts of my first visit to ghost products (CZC), and Rob had several po-2's ta show me, as they were the only compact 9mm for sale in the store, and all of em were set up from the factory like mine, decocker--ambi, with the manual safety--ambi in the case. I picked one out of the bunch and only my checkbook regrets ever hearing of cz's. A few posts up I screen shot one of the ads for the po-2. As a first gun, I had no real idea what manual safety vs decocker safety meant in form, use or function. Today I do, learning the hard way, meaning I'd bought a po1 with single manual safety which allowed the triggers action to become much sweeter, the po-2 was actually in the classifieds for months without an offer. My ideal 9mm compact, if cz can make em has ambi decocker and without an omega trigger system; which to me is mushy, to much play, and not capable of having the shorter reset installed or a crisp break the po-1 had. Glad ta see a few folks keeping the thread alive, and nice ta see the po-2 get reincarnated, only question is so its an ambi safety thats only manual now, right?? Odd cz would reintroduce a guy with less options available than previous builds, but suppose it costs less then. Be well, and safe and happy holiday tomorrow.
-
I will post scans of the manual tomorrow. You can change the safety for a dexoxker. The case just doesn't have one with it even though the manual says it does.

It is. Jim is partially correct in that the P-07 decocker/safety does not fit in the P-02; the frame is too wide. The P-02 is setup to accept the decocker spring just like the P-07/09 are. My P-02 did not come with a decocking lever, but I hope that CZ sells a metal decocking lever sometime in the future. The manual says in three specific places that the compact omega DA/SA gun, the P-02, is able to be setup as a decocker OR a safety. They just don't have the bleep decocker available.

Have you called CZ-USA? If they have it, they should send it to you.
I sent them a bunch of emails. One rep said the only P-02's that he has seen shipped with plastic ambi decockers and hasn't seen any other forms of the pistol. Mine shipped with a metal ambi safety.
I sent them an email a few hours ago about purchasing a decocker for this gun, but my guess is that CZ Actual won't or can't ship them the metal decockers that fit on this gun for whatever reason. I am happy with the safety, but I would be more happy to have both options so I can change at my whim.
I want a decocker for carry because I wouldn't want to accidentally activate the safety for any reason even though all of the other CZ's I have owned or shot don't have that particular problem. I feel better about decockers overall and a metal decocker lever set would be fantastic for this gun.

I boguht mine from these guys:
http://grabagun.com/firearms/handguns/semi-automatic-handguns/cz-p-02-9mm-alloy-frame.html
Purchased on Tuesday before Thanksgiving, shipped Friday, got to my FFL on Monday.
-
The price went up...I ordered from them on Wednesday, it was $501.77 shipped. Shipped out Friday!
-
It did. It was 495 on Monday, and I think Tuesday. I bought it at $513.
-
Looks nice, is the trigger pull very similar to other omegas you've tried? I have a P-07 that is pretty smooth. Just curious, thinking about this or a P-01.
-
I've never tried an Omega triggered CZ before, but I like the SA on my P02 a lot. The DA is a little heavier than I'd like though, some parts from CGW should help with the eight, pre-travel and reset. Like I said the SA is very good as is, I think it's better than my CZ75 SA was out of the box. The trigger itself is nice and wide. Really liking this gun so far.
-
Just ordered a P-02 from grabagun,,,,will follow up on my thoughts of it wants i get it and but a few rounds through it.
-
I got hit by the CZ and clone bug HARD and I was going to purchase a P-01 until i got a whiff of this and it has a manual safety! But im reading that parts arent interchangeable, the omega trigger system isnt proven to be as reliable as the standard CZ trigger (yet) and some mags wont work from other CZs and the MecGars from clones. I would love to have my CZs and various clones to use the same mags if possible cause they are widely available.
So if anyone can answer these for me i would GREATLY appreciate it:
1 - How hard would replacement parts be to come be and what is not interchangeable? I know the Kadet conversion slide is out the window.
2 - What mags work and which ones wont? (if that indeed in the case)
3 - While I prefer a manual safety, for peace of mind, would the P-01 be a better choice if im worried about the above two?
Thanks guys.
-
I wouldn't worry about it as much as you are. I am going to be keeping the safety until I can source a decocker for the omega trigger set made for this gun. You can't swap levers with other plastic omega guns because of the different frame widths. My compact 14 round mags work in the gun as well as a friends 16 round mags.
Bottom line, don't over think it.
-
CZ 75 compact, 16rnd, SP01 mags, 26rnd , MecGar CZ mags will fit the P02 Omega.
parts should be available as the P07 and P09 and 75B Omega are running the same trigger system.
no real issues with the system. a few years out and the trigger system seems to be running well.
-
So the issues with the trigger bar spring have been rectified where it would fall out and also interfere with MecGar 17 rd mags?
This was the main issue since I have lots of MG 17 rd mags and I remember when the Omega was first released this was an issue and IIRC CZ-USA acknowledged it. Granted, this was back in 2010, maybe they changed the design since then.
Is this the case Stuart? If the issue no longer exists, so I am sold.
-
Took my new P-02 out yesterday to shoot for the first time,,,,shot great and was pleasantly surprised to find out i can engage the safety on halfcock whereas i cannot do that with my 75b with its safety.I wonder if all the Omega trigger systems are like this???

Add a ring hammer, and possibly a P-09 trigger, and it will be done.

They're grips4u.net grips. Here is the progression of the grips after I got them. I sanded the checkering off, sent them to get skiplined, and then oiled them to my taste. I am currently putting on another 2 coats of oil, with a possible third.

I just purchased a P-02, my first CZ. My decision was based on a few things: short barrel, alloy frame for less weight, and the supposedly simple and smoother Omega trigger. Though I cannot compare to the original trigger, I can compare to my other guns.
I am impressed with the P-02. It's weight with the alloy frame is similar to my PPQ M2 polymer gun, 4" barrel. The CZ Compact with steel frame would weigh about the same as my commander length 1911. For a .45 caliber in a short barrel the extra weight is welcomed, but not necessary in a 9mm, IMO.
The Omega trigger out of the box was new to me. The P-02 comes with a manual safety. The only time the hammer is all the way decocked is when you pull the trigger on an empty chamber. The hammer drops on the firing pin and the slide does not cycle. Other than that the gun can be carried cocked and locked, or you can manually drop the hammer on the half cock. This is the only time the gun will fire in DA mode, from half cocked position.
The trigger pull when dry firing from hammer fully decocked is almost too long for my finger to reach and the pull is heavy. In half cocked position the trigger moves closer to the grip allowing easy reach. The pull is still heavy but manageable and I'm able to hit the target. In half cocked position the manual safety can be engaged and the trigger is locked. In SA mode the break is quite crisp but with a little creep. Not quite as clean as my PPQ or polished 1911 trigger. I am not going to change a thing on the trigger as I find it works well.
I would feel comfortable carrying the P-02 with the manual safety. My PPQ does not have any safety other than the trigger safety and firing pin block. I use my PPQ holstered for practical shooting matches but would not carry. Just. My preference.
The sights on the P-02 is not the greatest out of the box. The dots are not very defined and the sight picture leaves very little space/gap between the front and rear sights. It is even less than the Novak sights on my 1911. The PPQ has a wider gap and for me it allows for faster target acquisition.
I really like my P-02 and have no regrets. I like the wood grips and will put that on my wish list.
-
Not sure about the 02, bot on others, the CGW hammer spring and FP kit really maket things work well in DA ans SA as well.
-

My information was based on P-02's I had seen and they all had the metal manual safety only. Apparently newer P-02's have manual safety only. Older (1st generation?) P-02's had the same plastic safety / decocker set-up that comes on the P-07 and P-09.
-
I have a P-02 that I recently purchased from CTD for ~530 or so. I'm a fan of it, although I've been looking to sell it. The Omega Trigger is greatly improved over the old trigger in my opinion, it's not as good as a custom trigger job from CZC, but it's passable otherwise, much less creep than my P-01 originally had. It has an ambidextrous safety, which actually, I did not like/want, because it interferes with CT grips made for the P-01. I'm also more of a decocker fan.
-
I have the 75 Omega, which is just the P02s big brother. Installed the cgw springs and firing pin along with the Dawson FO front sight. Put Hogues on it, and it shoots great. All magz except for P07 and 09 work. Kadet kit worked. Put the P09 trigger in and worked for 2 trigger pulls. Then would not reset. Don't know if the original hammer spring would fix that, some polishing on the sear or slight bending of the trigger bar or slight polishing. Not willing to mess with it any more than I have. Happy with the package I have. I may retry after a few thousand rounds and a little wear. Omega is incredibly easy to work on.
-
I bought the new style P-07/09 trigger as we'll and put it in my P-02. It will not drop the hammer in single action for me. DA works fine though. I hear an audible click when I rack the slide then release the trigger so I don't know if it is the reset. The trigger is the only thing I have altered on the pistol. The trigger shape, for me, is the only thing that holds this back from being my favorite pistol.
-
Battle born. Had the same experience with my 75 b. Figure could do some filing, but in SA it feels fine. Did drop it in my P07, and lovin it.
-
I am wondering if even though P-02/07/09 and 75 omega all use the omega system that there are actually different tolerance parts for each. I also noticed that on CZ USA's website that there are 3 different trigger bar disconnectors for the omega system. This could be the issue. Maybe I will order all 3 and test them out as they are relatively inexpensive. I am not to confident in filling the sear. I have seen to many examples of hack jobs for me to do it.

I'm happily awaiting my P-02 to arrive at my FFL from CTD. I love my P-01 in OD Green, however, I have large hands and grip really high on the pistol and keep engaging the decocker under normal firing operation. Plus, I want to keep the OD nice and pristine since it's a bit rare :) Couple of questions?
1. Does it come with a decocker?
2. If not, can one be purchased?
I would like the option of installing a P-07 type decocker as those don't get in the way.
Thanks :)
-
So why is the P-02 not on CZ-USA's website? :-\
-
So why is the P-02 not on CZ-USA's website? :-\
The P-02 was listed in the 2012 USA catalog. AFAIK the ODG P-01 was never listed in the CZ-USA catalog but they have been for sale for several years. Mine is a 2011 and I have seen a 2005 on Gunbroker before.

Replacing the trigger bar disconnector did it. The only problem is the 2 that I ordered from CZ-USA came in the same bag!!! Don't know which one is which. Both were larger in circumference then the original.
So if you don't like the first gen Omega trigger on the P-02 you can order the newer style P-07/09 trigger and both trigger bar disconnectors from CZ-USA and the new trigger should work.
-
Here is my new P-02. It has the safety installed and no decocker. I will track a decocker down just to have, but proably keep the safety. I like that I can still manually decock 3/4, and still engage the safety. This comes in real handy when handling the firearm during holstering/unholstering, or leaving it in the car when I can't have it on me due to a GFZ. Second pic is withe the black VZ frag grips off my P-01. :)

Nice grips...try cocobolo grips, you might like that too!

No decocker available at all on the P-02. Manual safety only. You can't switch it out.
My CZ-75 Compact Omega (P-02) that I purchased in the first run to come over in 2011 came with a safety installed and an included de-cocker. I switched it out in 10 minutes. I run it with the decocker installed. Both were included in the price and in the box.
-
Yes, it has already been established in this thread that the very first P-02's to be imported could be switched like the P-07 but the later models, like I was referring to, only came with standard safety.
-
I love the manual decocker (thumb safety only) on my P02, you can manually half cocked it and activate the thumb safety on for more security in mind...cool! or you can cocked it to full with the thumb safety on like 1911 for faster engagement...even cooler!
-
I just purchased the short reset kit for my P-02, which gave me a reason to disassemble the gun and at the same time polish some surfaces. Pretty straightforward disassembly. Only snag I had was realizing that the ejector was free and pivoted on the sear pin, preventing the removal of the pin. From the parts diagram I realized this and freed the ejector. Of course the tiny spring flew across the room. Fortunately I found it.
The Omega system is quite simple and fewer parts. I polished the sear and hammer notch surfaces, lower half of the hammer that rubs on the frame, part of the trigger base and pivot area and trigger bar, top surface of ejector that rubs on the frame, FPB and lifter arm contact area. I also polished the disconnector where it contacts the hammer. Replaced the hammer spring, FPB spring, extended firing pin and spring, disconnector and lifter arm with the parts kit. Actually I put back the OEM hammer spring since it is 14lbs vs the 15lb spring in the kit.
Pull weight is almost the same. The only difference I feel is in the smoothness of the moving parts. I have to test the reset when I go to the range.
I also polished the slide rails and that feels buttery smooth when installed in the frame.

I love the manual decocker (thumb safety only) on my P02, you can manually half cocked it and activate the thumb safety on for more security in mind...cool! or you can cocked it to full with the thumb safety on like 1911 for faster engagement...even cooler!
Exactly why I got the P02. I manually decock to 1/3 and then flip the safety on. This way, while I'm manipulating my firearm during holstering/unholstering, or leaving it in the car when I can't bring it due to a GFZ, it gives me that extra amount of safety. Once it's holstered and tucked in my AIWB position, I click the safety off. Which is the same condition it would be if I was carrying my P01.
Some brought up that I'm decocking on a loaded gun. I'm very comfortable with this since I compete with my Accu-Shadow & 97b in USPSA, IDPA & 3gun. I've done 100's of times. I still do it towards a safe area in my residence. What scares me the most is holstering my firearm in the AIWB position with a hot gun and no safety. :o

What short reset trigger did you go with? I've been looking at the CGW or the CZcustom. Did you already do the comp hammer? I have been thinking about running my p-02 at IDPA matches and I've been curious about what other people are running.
-
I just picked up a slightly used P02 for $490, is that a fair price? Are they still hard to find?

It's the reset kit for the P07/09 from CGW 92030. No I didn't do the comp hammer, I don't think the comp hammer will fit an Omega trigger system. CGW lists a hammer kit 91090 for the P07/09 which has the Omega trigger. Send an email to David at CGW. I did shoot my P02 at a IDPA match with factory ammo before the upgrade. Gun shoots great. I don't mind the stock SA trigger on the P02. It's always going to have that little creep before it breaks.
-
Thanks for the info! I'll likely be ordering the same setup sometime in the very near future.
-
I sent an e-mail to CZ-USA yesterday asking about availability of the P-02 here.
This was their reply:
Not at the moment. We?ve only brought in a small number of them so far. When the factory has all-metal safety and decocker sets for them we?ll be more interested in making them a standard item. At the moment, the decocker is the polymer one from the P-07.
Thanks!

Anyone know if there is an extended safety available for the P02?
-
Would really like a P2 to go with my 75 B. Then both would have safeties and would work the same in a high danger situation. Called CZ-USA this morning and was given the name of a distributor who might have one in stock. He said he had a few back in May but hadn't seen one since. From what he said and what CZ said it looks doubtful than they will be available anytime soon. Hate to miss the window on a PCR waiting for something that may never come.
-
There must have been a bunch released and then they dried up.
When I was looking early in May I was watching six or eight on GunBroker trying to figure out a best price. That led me to checking a store that was selling on GunBroker and they showed several in stock. I called and made payment arrangements and got them an FFL the next morning and they shipped that afternoon.
I do like the gun. I bought it to carry when out of town for IDPA matches and to use as a backup if my SP-01 were to ever go down which is not very likely. The only problem is the problem I have with all CZ pistols, short thumb can't release the safety on the draw.
I have taken to carrying it with the hammer down and just firing the first shot DA. I shot a match with it just to get use to it and actually the DA pull is not that bad and I had no trouble getting a good hit with that first shot.
Hard to decide what to do, get a pcr now and hope someday for the P-02 or just wait?

I need one of those!

I would be more comfortable carrying a decocked gun with a round chambered than one cocked and locked.

I need one of those!
When I purchased my first CZ the P02 was not very popular due to the new Omega trigger system. Granted the P01 had the original trigger that already had aftermarket parts and customization.
My choice was deliberate to go for the P02 because the Omega trigger was supposed to be better out of the box. I did not want to spend as much to fix/smooth out the trigger.
Plus the P02 and all Omega guns have the high beaver tail
I have one! :)

This is a decision by CZ-USA that I whole heartedly support! Metal guns should have metal controls. Heck, polymer guns should have all metal controls!

I decided to do my first gunsmithing exercise by replacing the DA springs in my P-02.
I exchanged email with David at Cajun Gun Works and here is the feedback he gave me:
Lock work is Omega, slide is 75 series as is the hammer spring. So if you want a crisp SA, better reset, us items off the P-07/. However, for DA upgrades, use the items off the 75 series webpages
So I replaced the following:
- 61100 Retaining Pin
- 61050 Perfection FP
- SPGK1 DA Spring Kit (13# hammer spring, matching FP spring, and our special FP block plunger spring)
Note: You can buy a kit with the springs and Firing Pin but I didn't decide to replace the Firing Pin and FP retaining pin until I took the original pin out to change springs. It cost my an extra $3 for the second shipping charge.
I can't tell you how much the DA pull was reduced but it is very noticeable. It was an easy install and the price was reasonable for the impact it had on my P-02.
Feeling good about my work I decide to splurge (birthday present to me) and bought a set of aluminum grips from CZ Custom. I replaced a very nice set of CZ Custom cocobola grips and just WOW!!!. The aluminum grips make the P-02 look and feel great. Man I thought I liked the cocobola grips, these black aluminum ones rock.

A couple springs and pins really help out a bunch ;)
Those grips look great!

-
Yep, grips look good, I put VZ's on mine and I like them too.
I changed the front sight to FO and while I am pretty happy with the P-02 DA I probably will change the items you listed.
Thanks
-
I'd say they're still hard to find. I'd also say that $490 is a great price!
-
i have one,,,,luv it
-
I bought my D PCR with the intention of buying a P-02 if it ever became available. I can't justify buying both the P-01 and P-02, but at least with the P-02 I can say the rail makes it signifcantly different from the PCR.
-
I had put the SPGK1 spring kit in my P-02 and finally got a chance to take it to the outdoor range.
Big difference in the double action pull and the trigger in general felt better to me. I shot 14 Federal HST rounds and the rest were my reloads with Xtreme 124 gr with CCI primers and I had no malfunctions of any kind.
A sweet gun got even sweeter!
-
There was a 3 day auction for one on gunbroker.com. Just got an email stating that I had the winning bid. Can't wait for it to arrive.
-
Neusiok,
Congrats on the P-02. You will love the trigger. I loved mine right out of the box.
Eventually I changed out some springs and put on black aluminum grips.
I haven't found a handgun near the price point that feels or shoots anywhere near my P-02.
Get us some pics and your thoughts when you've put some down range!!!
-
The P-02 arrived today. Can't wait to get some range time with it.
-

bleep, why is this the first time I am hearing of these? When I bought my P-01 a few month ago, I didn't even know that these existed. Pretty cool.

They've been like hen's teeth, lately.
-
Still enjoying the crap out of mine. It is in my daily carry rotation, though my shield is taking up most of that time.

-
And...finally found time to send some down the pipe. They don't get much sweeter than a P02. First 2-3 shots were about an inch left of center. Made a slight adjustment , then cut the heart out of target. I love it!!!
-
Is the interchangeable decock lever just not available for these anywhere.
I cannot reliably release the safety when carried cocked and locked. I have taken to carry my P-02 with the hammer down. I might as well decock if I could get a lever, or an oversize safety?
-

If there was a decocker, I would have one. I do a cursory search about once a month and nothing so far. I am tempted to try to modify a decocker for a P-07 but I am not entirely sure what would be involved right now. Until then, I keep the safety on fire and carry hammer full down. I prefer the dedocker fwiw
-
That is what I was afraid of. I carry the same way as you do.
I had heard that the original P-02 came with both safety and decocker levers.
-
On the topic of P-02 interchangeable safety and decocker. I purchased my P-02 with the expectation that the hardware exists to change between the two (see user manual).
I contacted CZ-USA, and CZ Custom. What I found is that the P-02 is indeed capable of being swapped as either safety or decocker but until either CZ-UB or CZ-USA decides to make some nice metal decocker kits you are pretty much stuck with safety only. There are P-02 decocker models out there per some forum posters but I am guessing they are few and far between.
As to using the P-07/09 decocker in a P-02, I read it has been tried and is too short to accommodate the additional width of the P-02.
Wish I had better news. Drop CZ-USA a line and tell them you would like a decocker kit for the P-02. It couldn't hurt.
Cheers.
-
I have several plastic guns and they work just fine
-
I meant to add that I would be willing to try a plastic decocker lever.
-
Yes, it did. Mine was one of the "first cut" guns that made it over here in summmer 2011. It has both. It's not labeled "P-02", however. It's labeled "CZ-75 Compact" with the Omega symbol next to it on the slide. I keep mine with the decocker in.
http://jameskrall.smugmug.com/Professional/Gallery1/23397811_5RR3sL#!i=1889898025&k=ct86MZ3
I don't know why they don't include both anymore. It's not listed in their current catalog either. Perhaps they're walking away from it.
-
I want a metal or plastic decocker. I don't really care which. I would pay through the nose for one too.
-
I keep going back and forth on whether I want a P02 or not.
-
I keep going back and forth on whether I want a P02 or not.
Get one. I love mine and it eats everything I feed it just like a P-01. I carry hammer all the way down and it is a great gun. I really like mine, but I am constantly waffling on the wood grip "deli a" and which way I should go for wood grips.
-
A local GS had a couple - one with decocker and one with safety. I don't know where he got them, but he wanted too much in my opinion ($629) and he wouldn't budge off the price so I bought a new P-01 for a lot less.

Considering most SP01's are going for over $600 and the P02 isn't even close to being as available I don't think $629 is a bad price. Just saying ;)
-
Starting in a few months, IDPA will have a new division for compact pistols. It was designed around the Glock 19 but I think my P -02 will play very well there.
I am adding the sights from Cajun Gun Works.
-
The P-01 or P-02 should be very competitive in CCP. May have to go on a slight diet as far as the width goes. After market grips should remedy the issue. I plan on getting a classification with my P-01 at the first opportunity.

If you look closely, it is a P-09 hammer. It reduced the SA reset by a lot. I believe that CZC has a competition version of that same hammer for $80 or so.
http://czcustom.com/p07p09czubcomphammer.aspx
Here is the regular P-09 hammer. I can't justify the cost for the rrcut hooks on the hammer that I have right now.
http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/0720020010_Hammer-P07p09
If I had the choice between the two when I bought the P-99 hammer, I would probably buy the competition hammer. The SA is still a little mushy when compared to my SP-01, but the SP-01 has been cajunized and polished and what-not. The P-02 has some Cajun parts like the short reset, extended firing pin and firing pin retraining pin, and stuff. I don't think the Omega trigger can ever be as good as the traditional FCG that comes with the P-01/SP-01/etc.

I went down the road and picked up a P-01 for $560 a couple days later that I had seen before I saw the P-02s so I didn't think his pricing was that good.
-
I just did some measuring and the widest part of my P-02 is the ambi safeties which put me .064 over the 1 3/8" maximum width.
I guess I will have to explore how it actually fits in a box or removing the right side safety. I don't know how tight/loose the box tolerances will be. (I see now -0 to plus 1/16") I should be OK.

This little fella should be hitting my FFL by the end of the week. I am trading with a guy in GA who doesn't carry or use it, so he is getting my VP9 and I am getting his unicorn. I have been looking for one of these since I started looking at CZs. Now my P-07 and P-09 with have a metallic sibling.

The quality is just as good, IMHO. I had VZ grips on my clone and they were awesome, but these were $15 cheaper. They are limited in colour though. I will probably buy a set of VZs in Dark Cherry as well.

Wondering what a machinist or gunsmith would charge to use my plastic decocker to turn out a metal one?
-
I would be happy to have any decocker for my P-02 ;D
A big machine shop like we had when I worked at the Airline has machines that can scan a part and reproduce it automatically. It takes longer to program the machine than to make the part. I don't have contacts there anymore and I imagine your project would be expensive.
Seriously, is there any place to get a Decocker without going to the Czech Republic?
-
One cannot even get a decocker for the P-01 omega in the CR. I have tried. That was back a few months ago, so maybe they are releasing them now, but I have been trying to source the new Omega decocker for a long time now. The ambi safety is the only reason I don't carry my P-02 more often.

Per CZ Rep...
Thor,
The P-02 was a prototype pistol, which was the P-01 with the new Omega trigger system. Unfortunately it is not in production at all. With regards to converting the P-01 to a safety instead of a decocker, this cannot be done. However we do have the 75B Compact, which is a steel frame compact with a safety on it, instead of a decocker.

So P-02's are pretty much completely unicorns now, however we CAN expect (if the 2015 catalogue's are correct) the P-01 Omega to be essentially the same thing save having the decocker (again) instead of the safety. (much to my dismay)
-
I don't think the 2015 P-01 omega has been imported to the US at this point.

If I ever get a decocker for my P-02, the safety is staying with me. Hopefully, the omega p-01 will come with both or have the option of buying either or.
Eta: I am probably just going to buy a P-01 Omega when they come out. I will leave my P-02 in non-carry duty. Man I want another one of these pistols. For some reason, I have no interest in a P-01.
